The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a collection of infrastructure projects that connects China's Xinjiang region to Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. The projects include upgrading the Gwadar port and constructing several motorways and railways to improve connectivity between China and Pakistan. CPEC will benefit China by providing a new trade route to reduce transportation costs and delivery times to international markets. It will benefit Pakistan through infrastructure development, connecting its provinces and boosting economic development in less developed regions. However, there are also disadvantages for Pakistan such as threats to local industries from Chinese competition and environmental impacts.
