The student experimented with painting effects in Photoshop on an image by using selection tools to isolate the subject, placing it on its own layer, and adding two new layers to apply a watercolor paint effect using the paint tool. While the experiment was successful in making the image look hand-painted, the student acknowledges it could be improved by choosing a subject like a portrait that better suits the technique.

I decided that I needed to experiment with Photoshop on another image to show that I can produce
experimental work. For this image I experimented with painting on Photoshop. I used the polygonal lasso tool to
pick out the subject from the background, and placed in onto a new layer. I then put in two new layers and used
the paint tool to get the water paint effect. I believe that this experiment worked well because I was able to take an
image that I had taken and made it look like I have painted on it, while it was on Photoshop. I believe that this
could have been improved, and if I could do this experiment again then I would make sure that I chose or take an
image that works better, like a portrait image or an image with one main subject. I believe that this image is
experimental because I was able to try out a new technique on Photoshop, which I believe that I did quite well
even though it was the first time I completed it.
