This document describes a pen-style personal networking gadget called the P-ISM. The P-ISM was prototyped in 2008 by Japanese company NEC and consists of five main functions: a CPU pen, camera, virtual keyboard, visual output via LED projector, and phone capabilities. It allows users to use a flat surface like a desk as a monitor and keyboard to access computing functions wirelessly through a cellular network connection. The P-ISM aims to provide portable ubiquitous computing and is still in the design process, though challenges remain regarding its cost and precision user interface.
