OVERPOPULATION
0From 1800 to 1930 the worlds population
doubled from 1 to 2 billion, and then
doubled again by 1975. In October 2011, it
surpassed 7 billion. This increase is
 overwhelming the planet’s limited
 resources.
0Species abundant in the world have been
wiped out by growing human numbers.
OVERPOPULATION
0As the population grows rapidly, so does
the demand for water, land, trees and fossil
 fuels.
0All of which come from endangered plants
 and animals. Species are disappearing
 about 1,000 times faster. This
time, though, it isn’t because of geologic or
 cosmic forces but unsustainable human
 population growth.
OVERPOPULATION
0Today’s global human population is
over 7 billion. Every day, the planet
sees a net gain of roughly 250,000
people. If the pace continues, we’ll
be on course to reach 8 billion by
 2020 and 9 billion by 2050.
Prevention
0 There are only two ways to decrease or slow
population growth. You decrease the birth rate or
  increase the death rate.
0 Problem is - biological organisms are
programmed to reproduce and someone (the
  government)must either make it advantageous
for them not to reproduce and provide the means
to prevent birth or force them through drastic
  methods not to have children.
Prevention
0If you look at what happens to other
 species when their populations increase
 geometrically as the human population
has done over the last 100+ years they
tend to crash because they have
depleted a food source or the
 environment has changed to decrease
 the food source.
Today
0 Today humans rely heavily on oil and coal not
only for their economy but also for their food
production. The manufacture of fertilizers as
well as modern farming and distribution
require a lot of energy. Oil is a limited
resource. Coal is a possibility but will require
re investment. It also. like oil increases CO2
levels which are thought to create global
 warming and climate change.
