Outer space has almost no matter and extremely low pressure. Without a space suit, a human would lose consciousness within 90 seconds and die due to the lack of oxygen and pressure. Space suits have systems to provide respiration, circulation, and protect against muscular and skeletal issues caused by weightlessness.

being the most complex and scientifically advanced robotic mission sent to
the Red Planet.
The $2.4 Billion Mars Perseverance rover is a flagship mission dedicated to the
search for signs of life beyond Earth, as part of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program,
a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet.
The Perseverance Mars 2020 mission will search for signs of ancient microbial life,
characterize Mars’ climate and geology, collect carefully selected samples for
future return to Earth, and pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet
as soon as the 2030s.
Perseverance will also ferry a separate technology experiment to the surface of
Mars — a helicopter named Ingenuity, the first aircraft to fly in a controlled way
on another planet.
Launch is now targeted for a launch opportunity in the July/August timeframe
when Earth and Mars are aligned in good positions relative to each other for
landing on Mars.
The car-sized Perseverance Mars 2020 rover is targeted for liftoff on NET 30 July
2020 aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 541 rocket from Space
Launch Complex 41 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.
The approximately month-long launch window for the Mars 2020 Perseverance
rover mission currently extends until August 15.

The human body is uniquely designed to live in Earth’s gravity. In space, the body begins to adapt to the microgravity environment.
When an astronaut goes into space, his or her body will immediately begin to experience a multitude of changes that cause the astronaut to feel different and even look slightly different!
Much more research needs to be done to develop countermeasures to the body’s changes in microgravity.
Space Medicine establishes the countermeasures to overcome the physiological effects of space.
The results will help to improve the health of astronauts and pave the way for long-term space exploration, such as a trip to Mars. Space medicine and space physiology are often viewed as two aspects of space life sciences, with the former being more operational, and the latter being more investigational. Space medicine tries to solve medical problems encountered during space missions. These problems include some adaptive changes to the space environment, including weightlessness, radiation, the absence of the 24-hour day/night cycle; as well as some non-pathologic changes that become maladaptive on return to Earth, such as muscle atrophy and bone demineralization. Space physiology tries to characterize body responses to space, especially weightlessness, reduced activity, and stress. It provides the necessary knowledge required for an efficient space medicine.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.
