A new study examined the impact of climate change on coral reefs. The researchers found that rising ocean temperatures cause coral bleaching events that damage coral health. Unless global warming is curbed, the study predicts that most coral reefs will become extinct by 2100 due to increasingly severe bleaching caused by hotter ocean temperatures.
