This document provides an overview of intelligent systems and agents in business. It defines intelligent agents as software programs that use knowledge bases to carry out specific, repetitive tasks automatically. Examples of intelligent agent tasks include scheduling appointments, finding cheap airfare, and serving as personal digital assistants. The document also discusses challenges like the lack of standard ways to present information on the web, and provides examples of standards organizations like W3C and data reporting languages like XML and XBRL.

Websites are regarded as domains of limitless information which anyone and everyone can access. The
new trend of technology has shaped the way we do and manage our businesses. Today, advancements in
Internet technology has given rise to the proliferation of e-commerce websites. This, in turn made the
activities and lifestyles of marketers/vendors, retailers and consumers (collectively regarded as users in
this paper) easier as it provides convenient platforms to sale/order items through the internet.
Unfortunately, these desirable benefits are not without drawbacks as these platforms require that the users
spend a lot of time and efforts searching for best product deals, products updates and offers on ecommerce websites. Furthermore, they need to filter and compare search results by themselves which takes
a lot of time and there are chances of ambiguous results. In this paper, we applied web crawling and
scraping methods on an e-commerce website to obtain HTML data for identifying products updates based
on the current time. These HTML data are preprocessed to extract details of the products such as name,
price, post date and time, etc. to serve as useful information for users.

At the core of the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) vision is the concept of a ‘service bus’
that can route messages and notifications between any services, whether developed in-house,
purchased from a third-party, or hosted over the Internet. A similar opportunity exists for inte-

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

software application
2. Examples on tasks
l k
Make decisions on users preferences
– Delete junk email

– Schedule appointments
– Travel over interconnected networks to find the
cheapest airfare to a certain destiny
Serve as personal digital assistants
– Training or teaching the user (the Wizard in MS Office

Examples on Intelligent Agents
l lli A
Buyer agents (shopping bots)
These bots help Internet surfers find products and
services they are searching for. For example, when
a person surfs for an item on eBay, at the bottom
p y,
of the page there is a list of similar products that
other customers who did the same search looked
at. This is because it is assumed the user tastes are
relatively similar and they will be interested in the
same products. This technology is known as
d t Thi t h l i k
collaborative filtering.
3. User agents (personal agents)
Meant to carry out tasks automatically for
the user

Sort emails according to the user's order of
preference,

Assemble customized news reports (e.g.
newshub), or
Fill out webpage forms with the user s

Monitoring-and-surveillance
(predictive) agents
Used to observe and report on equipment,
usually computer systems, for example
s all comp ter s stems e ample
Keep track of company inventory levels,
Observe competitors' prices and relay them
back to the company,
company
Watch stock manipulation by insider trading
and rumors, etc.
4. Data mining agents
This agent uses information technology to find trends and patterns in
an abundance of information from many different sources.
The user can sort through this information in order to find whatever
information they are seeking. An example of this class of bot would be
a data mining agent that
detects market conditions and changes and relays them back to a
g y
user/company so that the user/company can make decisions
accordingly.
For example, the agent may detect a decline in the construction
industry f

construction companies will be able to make intelligent decisions
regarding the hiring/firing of employees or the purchase/lease of
equipment in order to best suit their firm.

“The idea behind XBRL, eXtensible Business

standard internet page or a printed document - it
provides an identifying tag for each individual
item of data. This is computer readable. For

Why tags

“The introduction of XBRL tags enables automated
processing of business information by computer software,
cutting out laborious and costly processes of manual re-

Computers can treat XBRL data "intelligently": they can
recognise the information in a XBRL document, select it,

analyse it, store it, exchange it with other computers and
present it automatically in a variety of ways for users.
XBRL greatly increases the speed of handling of financial
data, reduces the chance of error and permits automatic
checking of information. “
