This paper discusses the optimization of macro block size for the adaptive rood pattern search (ARPS) method in motion estimation, a crucial component in video compression that traditionally consumes significant encoding time. The authors demonstrate that a macro block size of 4x4 yields the best peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) while maintaining an acceptable level of computational complexity. The study highlights the trade-offs between block size, video quality, and processing efficiency in motion estimation techniques.
