divine and part human. During the story, Achilles undergoes the steps in becoming a hero. Each of

Musical Critique
One way I became more involved in university life by going to Oklahoma!. Not the state, but rather
the musical put on by the university. My suitemate Anna auditioned to be a part of it, and when she
got the part, she invited us all to watch opening night on November 13th.
I had been to a few musicals near my hometown, but they were rather lackluster and not very well
produced. This left a sour taste in my mouth when it came to amateur theatre performances, so I
hesitated in buying tickets for Oklahoma!. When I talked to my teaching assistant, she persuaded

Introduction Research: In this lab I are used agar combined with alkali and placed in vinegar to
simulate how long it takes cells with a larger surface area to volume ratio to transport a material
in and out of their cell. In the lab I will answer the following: Why are cells so small? What aspect
determines how big a cell can be and still function?
For a cell to obtain substance, the substance needs to go across the cell membrane. The volume of
the cell determines its metabolism. Cells with large volume need more materials for them to
survive because they have a large surface area.Cells use diffusion to get materials in and out the
cell. Cells that have a large surface area can diffuse more materials in their cells.

The diffusion occurred because the alkali in the agar cubes reacts to the vinegar causing the the
cubes to turn yellow from green. The lab displayed how cells would diffuse materials in their
membrane. The agar with largest ratio sized at 0.5 centimeters changed colors at 1.33 minutes
while the agar with the smallest ratio with size of 2.0 centimeters changed colors at 38.2
minutes. This data supports my hypothesis because it shows that agar smallest ratio took the
longest time for it to change colors. From my observations of the agar in the vinegar, I can
conclude that cells with a smaller surface area to volume ratio would be less efficient at
diffusing materials than a cell with a larger one. I can infer that cells are small because it is
efficient for the cell to get materials in and out of the cell and to carry out their processes while in
larger cell their processes would take a longer time because the cell has more
