The student used various tools in Photoshop including the magnetic lasso tool, color swatch, eraser, pencil tool, fill tool and shape tool to create a self-portrait. They found the magnetic lasso tool difficult to control but were able to complete the task. In the future, they would focus more on larger features like hair and face rather than small details.

1. OPIE self-portrait evaluation
I used the magnetic lasso tool, the colour swatch, the eraser,
the pencil tool, fill tool and the shape tool. I used the magnetic
lasso tool to go round the parts of the picture I wanted in my
OPIE, as it was easier than using the freehand lasso tool.
I used the colour swatch to then fill in the object I had
selected with the magnetic lasso tool with a colour of my
choice. Using the colour swatch also gave me chance to try
and get the closest colour to my skin tone as possible, and
then fill in the shape with the fill bucket.
The eraser and pencil tool came in helpful if I missed a spot or
went too far with the magnetic lasso tool, as I could erase the
mistake and fill it in again. The shape tool came in useful at
the end of creating my OPIE, when I needed to add extra bits
of colour without using the fill tool.

2. I found the magnetic lasso tool difficult to use as sometimes it
could stick to different colours and would be hard to control,
which wasted a lot of time.
I was successful in completing the task, although next time I
would complete the task quicker as I now know what to do. I
would also spend less time on little things like making the
eyeliner on my OPIE look neat and focus on the bigger things
like the hair and face.
