According to Lewis (2006), crisis is "an interruption from previously normal state of functioning
resulting in turmoil, instability, and a significant upheaval to a system" (p. 27). In other words, a
crisis is a negative predictable or unpredictable event that affects the future trend of individuals,
groups, organizations, and government. For instance, pharmaceutical company Johnson and Johnson
had an unpredictable crisis in 1982 with its product Tylenol, which was laced with cyanide and led
to several murders in Chicago. The events of this crisis could have changed the perception of
Tylenol products. Another example of organizational crisis was the predictable 2012 Hurricane
Sandy. Although companies of all sizes expected the Hurricane due to the weather forecasting, some
areas in New York and New Jersey were affected worse than others. There were businesses that
terminated operations for several business days. In addition to Hurricane Sandy being an

To solve issues where there is strong differences of opinions, each of which has its merits, we can
use scenario planning. Scenarios are not forecasts of the future, but possibilities with an
infinitesimal chance of happening. These estimated outcomes are grounded, and not plain guessing.

When writers take content from another source, it's essential to give credit to the author, thus
avoiding plagiarism. Students who plagiarize are doing themselves to disservice and the author by
not giving her or him the credit they deserve. Students who copy from the articles either exhibit
laziness or lack the ability to think critically. These deficiencies can hinder a person's ability to write
with concisely and with a flow. The inability to think and write critically will be a struggle for
students who have difficulty developing their own thoughts.
I don't agree with the student's assessment in regards to not acknowledge the source.
Even though the author is unknown, it's important to provide sources, which will enhance the
validity of a research paper. Writing research papers without providing sources will likely be
analyzed by the professor and thus affects a student grade. Whoever thinks it's clever not to provide
sources are being negligent and their academic integrity should be questioned. As you stated in our
last meeting professor, once we enrolled in your class, it's a contractual agreement that students
should uphold.

Because Unhappy Endings are Overrated
Margaret Atwood's "Happy Endings" is not a typical short story. With remarkable brevity, it
provides readers a gold mine for discussion on the nuances of relationships and storytelling. Best
described as metafiction, "Happy Endings" self–consciously draws attention to its artificiality; it is
less a story and moreover an instruction manual on how to write one. From a surface level, the
author parodies storytelling conventions. Upon deeper examination, however, the story is actually a
satire on on the collective psyche of the middle class. This essay will explore the story's meaning
from these two levels. In scenario A, Atwood introduces Mary and John. Their lives appear to be
happy and financially successful, approaching each milestone without mentioning any challenges.
They find their jobs "stimulating and challenging" (Atwood). They have "worthwhile friends," they
go on "fun vacations," and their children are "raised well" (Atwood). These characters are
remarkably flat, with adjectives "stimulating" and "challenging" describing three times.
From a surface level, Atwood parodies the unrealistic simplicity that fairytale–like stories present.
As children, readers are accustomed to stories with happy endings; two people fall in love, any
problems are solved, and all of the loose ends are tied up in the end. As these readers become adults,

On April 20, 2010, an explosion occurred aboard BP contracted Transocean Ltd Deepwater Horizon
oil rig stationed in the Gulf of Mexico. Eleven workers were killed instantly. Unfortunately, the BP

Emergency Planning For A Worst Case Scenario
Looking back at the past eight weeks', disasters have continued to occur across the United States.
There have been riots in Baltimore Maryland, wildfires throughout the state of California and most
of the Western United States, and more recently flooding in south–central New Orleans. As first
responders, like the rest of the world, we wake up in the morning put both feet on the floor, go
through some morning routine and most often fail to realize that today's the day a disaster will
occur. It may not be the people we serve, or in the community in which we live, but the potential is
always there. Emergency planning is a pivotal key in being prepared for a worst case scenario. Since
Hurricane Katrina, the federal government, state and local officials have stepped up their game in
disaster planning. The federal government has established numerous guidelines and protocols for
such events. The National Response Framework (NRF) superseded by the National Response Plan
(NRP), the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the Stafford Act are just a few of
the government 's key programs. Recognized nationally bringing resources across the nation
together and on the same page (Kramer Ph.D., 2009, p. 18).
Currently, the disastrous flooding in Louisiana is a result of more than 20 inches of rain in a weeks'
time (Grinberg, Yan, & Flores, 2016, para. 6). A disaster of this size and magnitude is difficult to
imagine anyone could be prepared for it, even if they were aware it
