2. Our opening shot we have chosen is one that easily sets the scene quickly to the audience, therefore
they can easily see what kind of atmosphere the film is based on. Also we believed that setting a
scene like this, helped the audience not only set the scene but also it showed the characters
emotions, since its in a police inspection it lets the audience not only set the scene but also it
showed the characters emotions without even knowing anything about them yet. This allows our
audience to connect to Peter and brings them into what he may be feeling and allows our audience
to feel empathy for him, even though they don’t know why he's there. Our opening shot presents
our main key themes which is vital as it sets the scene and presents the most important themes
straight away. Our key themes is crime, this is presented as you can straight away tell its a police
inspection which also then links back to emotions that Peter may be feeling
Some ideas that the audience may come up with when first seeing this opening scene is some of our
main themes such as crime as it’s a police interrogation, suspense as they are now questioning
what's going on, drama since his head is on the table it shows he's uncomfortable and does not feel
happy and secure with where he is. These are the ideas we aim that the audience can experience
within our first shot.
FIRST SHOT

3. The camera work we have used in our first shot is one that can not only express the way the
character feels at that moment in time and the setting which could explain why the characters feel
lie this. Our opening shot is a mid shot where you can see Peter's head face down on the table,
also showing in that shot the background which is the black walls with the light shining on him ad
the table in mainly full display, although this would be signified as "dead space" we have filled this
with meaning that show to the audience what is going on and if none of this was to be present
then the audience wouldn't have an idea of why he's face down on the table. Therefore this shows
any emotions that the audience needs to know within the first shot.
The sound we are including is no backing tacks or nothing until the officer comes in and starts
to interrogate Peter with the questions. We have chosen to do this because it adds suspense as to
why is he in here and many other questions the audience will start asking themselves. Also we
have decided to do this because in a real life police interrogation there would be no music, so
therefore replicating this brings the audience into the film and that they can almost relate to the
character even though they don’t know anything about him yet, and since its replicable it brings a
real life aspect to the film.
FIRST SHOT

4. KEY MOMENTS IN THE
OPENINGBeside our fist shot being our first key moment in our opening sequence as the opening
shot can explain so much to the audience the next key moment is when the officer enters
the room and first line he says to Peter which is "So your names Peter eh?" We chose to use
this to open as it automatically lets the audience know the main characters name, by just
using it in the first piece of dialogue there is. The way this will be said is the officer will be
invasive and rude with how he speaks to Peter.
The next key scene within the opening we have is the piece of action that Peter presents to
the audience that reveals more what he's personality is like "PETER starts to look up
at the OFFICER with a disturbing grin and starts to chuckle to himself.
PETER is now fully up straight looking the OFFICER staring at the back of
his skull. He looks at his name badge." This is important because the audience
are figuring more out as to why he's here and why he is thought to be the one who killed
Sarah Longthorpe, as they are realizing what he's like, and they are figuring out how
twisted and disturbing this boy is.

5. KEY MOMENTS IN THE
OPENINGNext up, is the scene where we see the officer now becoming the uncomfortable one, and
he's becoming nervous. This is shown where the officer says "Excuse me I'm not sc.." This
shows his emotions as you can him not being about to even finish his word, this shows terror
in his voice and that he is creeped out by the way Peter is being towards him.
The final key moment that’s in our opening sequence is the main key moment that includes
so much drama and suspense. This is the action piece after we find out that somehow by
Peter tightening his watch he is causing the officer to chock. The key next piece of action is
"Tighter and tight the watch is starting to be and in the mean
time suffocating the OFFICER. The watch is now is a tight as can be. So we
cut to the OFFICER all red in pain to fall onto the desk. We cut to a medium
shot of the PETER and the OFFICER dead on the desk." This shows to the audience
that not only Peter is crazy in his mind but he also is able to physically hurt someone as well
as mentally causing them pain. This causes the audience to automatically think that Peter did
kill Sarah since he could do that to the officer. This also becomes the audience to feel scared
of Peter that he is mental.
