1. The Strangers - The opening scene for the strangers is in
reverse order it shows the very ending of the film first this is too
build tension and to make the audience wonder what has
happened because of the events that they are witnessing. To give
more clues in to what happened for the ending to be like this and
what the film as a whole is about. The devastating facts provide
shock from the audience and almost gives them a warning that
this is what happens in the film and more frightening that the
events that happened in the events can happen in real life which
is revealed later on throughout the beginning of the film when it
states that 'what you are about to see is inspired by true events'.
This makes the whole film more scary and most importantly
more relatable for the audience. Towards the end of the
beginning of the film it shows two young children who go into
the building of the murder to investigate what exactly has
happened, when the camera focuses on them the sun is just
beginning to rise this symbolises a new day and a fresh start
from the day before which tells
the audience that whatever the
boys are looking at has took
place the night before.
The titles for the strangers are
simple yet effective, they show a
yellow text in front of a black
background this reflects the style
of the film. The titles are simply
the names of the companies that
have bought into the film or have
made it. Stereotypically the
opening titles usually come first
and this film follows this pattern.
2. Saw - The opening scene for Saw is
similar to that of the strangers
opening scene it shows two men who
look rough and restless open there
eyes from presumably a long sleep or
perhaps they both have been
unconscious as the camera uses the
P.O.V of one of the men which
shows a blurred view of where the
man is. The film starts off in the dark
just after the opening titles and then
shortly after the lights come on after
some fumbling around from the man
the camera is focusing om. The
change from darkness to the light
could perhaps symbolise that the
scary events are about to take place.
The titles are simply the names of the companies that have
