INTRODUCTION
The eTwinning action is an initiative of the
European commission that aims to encourage
European schools to collaborate using information
and communication Technologies [ICT] by providing
the necessary infrastructure such as online tools,
service, support etc. eTwinning is a free online
community for schools in Europe which allows you
to find partners and collaborate on projects within a
secure network and platform.
eTwinning actions are produced the teaching
learning process was easily and effectively.
eTwinning is collaborate using information and
communication technologies providing the teaching
learning process easily.
HISTORY OF eTwinning
The project was born in 2005 under the European
union’s eTwinning program and it has been integrated in
the lifelong learning program since 2007. eTwinning is
part of commenius, the EU programme for school. It
main objectives complied with the decision by the
Barcelona European council in March 2005 to promote
school twinning as an opportunity for all students to
learn and practice ICT skills and to promote awareness of
the multi-cultural European model of society. In 2011
nearly 30000 projects have been registered.
The main concept behind eTwinning is that schools are
paired with another school elsewhere in the Europe and
they collaboratively develop a project, also known as a
eTwinning projects. The two schools then communicate
using the internet.
E.g.: E -mail or video conferencing to collaborate,
Share and learn from each other.
eTwinning encourages and develops ICT skills as the main
activities inherently use information technology. Being
twinned with a foreign school also encourages cross -
cultural exchanges of knowledge, fosters students,
intercultural awareness, and improves their
communication skills.
Through participating in eTwinning
school will be able to:
• Enrich learning and motivation of pupils and staff.
• Access high quality professional development and
ready -made resource.
• Raise standards across the whole school community.
• Gain recognition for your commitment through
eTwinning awards and the international school
awards.
IMPACT OF eTwinning
Amongst the finding for pupils improved academic
achievement for teachers access to greater support and

CONCLUSION
