The 1992 Olympic Games were held in Barcelona, Spain from July 25th to August 9th. Nearly 10,000 athletes from 169 countries competed across 28 sports. Notable events included Krisztina Egerszegi of Hungary winning three gold medals in swimming and Tulu of Ethiopia becoming the first black African athlete to win an Olympic medal by taking gold in the 10,000m race. The Unified Team, comprising former Soviet republics except the Baltic states, topped the medal table with 45 golds.
