Paris 1924.

2. The 1924 Paris Olympic Games, officially known
as the Games of the VIII Olympiad, were held
in Paris, France, between May 4 and July 27.
Paris hosted over three thousand
athletes, 2,956 men and 136 women.
Paris was chosen over the cities of
Amsterdam, Berlin, Los Angeles, Rio de
Janeiro and Rome.

3. These were the last Olympic Games led by
Pierre de Coubertin (he was the founder of
the modern Olympic Games).
 The Games were inaugurated in
Colombes's Stadium, with an assistance of
45.000 spectators.
 They were the first Olympic games which
consisted of an Olympic village.


4. For the first time used the slogan Olympic
Citius, Altius, Fortius (faster, higher, stronger).
 The Uruguay soccer team marveled for its
quality and achieved gold medal.
 The Finns dominated the long distance
events. Nurmi won the race of 5,000 m and
1,500 m. Ritola won the race in the 10,000 m
and 3,000 m with obstacles. Stenroos won
the marathon, while the Finnish team was
victorious in the race of reliefs.


Switzerland, Turkey, Uruguay and Yugoslavia.
