SECTION I - THE GAME
CHAPTER I - FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
1 - PLAYING AREA
The playing area includes the playing court and the free zone. It shall be rectangular and
symmetrical.
1.1 DIMENSIONS
The playing court is a rectangle measuring 18 x 9 m, surrounded by a free zone which is a
minimum of 3 m wide on all sides.
1.2 PLAYING SURFACE
1.2.1 The surface must be made of sand, the more uniform and flat possible, free of stones,
shells or any other object that can present risks to the players.
1.2.2 The sand should be constituted of fine grains, covering a space of, at least, 30 cm depth.
1.2.3 It must not present any danger of injury to the players. It is forbidden to play on rough or
slippery surfaces. Any surface must be previously approved by the FIFv.
1.3 LINES ON THE COURT
1.3.1 Two side lines and two end lines mark the playing court. Both side lines and end lines are
drawn inside the dimensions of the playing court.
1.3.2 If used ribbons to mark the court, all lines are 5 cm wide.
1.3.3 The lines must have contrasting colors with the color of the sand.
1.3.4 In case of using ropes, they must be 20 to 30 millimeters wide.
1.4 SERVICE ZONE
The service zone is a 9 m wide area behind each end line, being the end line excluded. It is
laterally limited by two short lines, both short lines are included in the width of the service zone.
1.5 TEMPERATURE
The temperature shall be compatible with an outdoor competition.
1.6 LIGHTING
World and Official Competitions accomplished at night, the lighting on the playing area should
be 1000 to 1500 lux measured at 1 m above the surface of the playing area.
PLAYING AREA

2 - NET AND POSTS
2.1 NET
2.1.1 The net measures 9,5 m long for 1 m wide. It is made of fabric squares of 10 cm, with
superior and inferior boards delimited by horizontal strips of 5 to 8 cm of width.
2.1.2 The advertisement is allowed in the horizontal strips of the net.
2.2 HEIGHT OF THE NET
The net top is set at the height of 2 m for women and 2.20 m for men duos. Its height is
measured from the centre of the playing court. The net height (over the two side lines) must be
exactly the same.
The height of the net may be varied for specific age groups as follows:

2.3 SIDE BANDS
Two side bands are fastened vertically to the net and placed directly above each sideline. They
are 5 cm wide and 1 m long, and are considered as part of the net. The advertisement is allowed
in these bands.
2.4 ANTENNAE
2.4.1 An antenna is a flexible rod, 1.80 m long and 10 mm in diameter, made of fiberglass or
similar material.
2.4.2 The antennae are placed vertically on the net. They are fastened at the outer edge of each
side band.
2.4.3 The top 80 cm of each antenna extends above the net. They are considered as part of the
net and laterally delimit the space of play over the net.
2.5 POSTS
The posts supporting the net are 2.55 m high. They are placed at a distance of 0.50 -1.00 m
outside the side lines.
2.5.2 Fixing the posts to the ground by means of wires is forbidden. All dangerous or obstructing
devices must be eliminated. Posts must be padded.
2.6 ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
All additional equipment is determined by FIFv Regulations
3 - BALLS
3.1 CHARACTERISTICS
The ball shall be spherical, made of a material covered by waterproof rubber.
 Its inside pressure shall be: 0,56 / 0,63 kg / cm
 Its circumference is: 68 a 70 cm
3.2 UNIFORMITY OF BALLS
 All balls used in a match must have the same characteristics regarding circumference, weight,
pressure, type, etc.
CHAPTER II
4 – TEAMS
4.1 COMPOSITION AND REGISTRATION
4.1.1 A team is composed exclusively of two players.
4.1.2 Only the two players recorded on the score sheet may participate in the match.
5 – PLAYERS’ UNIFORM
5.1 UNIFORM
5.1.1 A player’s uniform consists of shirts and shorts. The uniforms must be the same for players
of the same team.
5.1.2 Player’s shirts must be numbered 1 and 2.
5.1.3 It is forbidden to wear objects which may cause injury, or give an artificial advantage to the
player.
6 – RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTICIPANTS
6.1 BOTH PLAYERS
6.1.1 Participants must know the Official Footvolley Rules and abide by them.

6.1.2 Participants must accept referees’ decisions with respectful conduct, without disputing
them. In case of doubt, clarification may be requested.
6.1.3 Participants must behave respectfully and courteously in the spirit of FAIR PLAY, not only
towards the referees, but also towards other officials, directors, their teammate, the opponents,
and spectators.
6.1.4 Participants must refrain from actions or attitudes aimed at influencing the decisions of the
referees or covering up faults committed by their team.
6.1.5 Participants must refrain from actions aimed at delaying the game.
6.1.6 During the match, while the ball is out of play, the player is authorized to ask for an
explanation on the application or interpretation of the Rules. If the explanation does not satisfy
the player, he must immediately indicate to the first referee his wish to record the disagreement
on the score sheet, as an official Protest at the end of the match.
6.1.7 Participants may request the service position.
6.2 CAPTAIN
6.2.1 Prior to the match, the team captain:
6.2.1.1 Signs the scoresheet.
6.2.1.2 Represents his/her team in the coin toss.
6.2.1.3 Any time during the competition, is the communication channel among organizers,
refereeing and his team.
6.2.2 During the match, only the captain is authorized to speak to the referees, as long as the ball
is out of play, to ask authorization:
6.2.2.1 to change uniforms or equipment;
6.2.2.2 to verify the number of the player;
6.2.2.3 to check the net, the ball, the surface etc.;
6.2.2.4 to verify the scorer;
6.2.2.5 to realign a court line;
6.2.2.6 to request time-outs;
6.2.2.7 to ask for an explanation on the application or interpretation of the Rules. If the
explanation does not satisfy him, he must communicate to the first referee his wish to record the
disagreement on the score sheet, as an official Protest at the end of the match.
6.2.3 At the end of the match:
In case some player of the team has expressed an objection to the first referee, he may, then,
register it on the scoresheet.
6.3 COACH
If a team is directed by a coach, he can be inside the limits of the playing area during the match
providing that he is registered with FIFv and is recorded on the score sheet
CHAPTER III
POINT, SET AND MATCH WINNER
7 - SCORING SYSTEM
7.1 TO WIN A SET/MATCH (1ST STAGE AND SEMI-FINALS)
7.1.1 The match is won by the team that first scores 18 points, with a minimum lead of 02 points.
In the case of a 17-17 tie, play is continued until a two-point lead is achieved.
7.1.2 There is always change of courts when the score reaches multiples of 06 (six) points,
without any rest.
7.2 TO WIN A RALLY:
Whenever a team fails in its service or fails to return the ball, or commits any other fault, the
opposing team wins the rally, and consequently the point, as the matches don’t use the side-out
scoring system.
7.3 FINAL MATCH
7.3.1 The best of 02 (two) sets (Rally Point Scoring system, tie-break).
7.3.2 Two first sets are won by the team that first scores 18 (eighteen) points. minimum lead of
two points.
7.3.3 In the case of a 17-17 tie, play is continued until a two-point lead is reached (19-17, 20-18
etc)
7.4 DECIDING SET:

7.4.1 In the case of a 1-1 tie, the deciding set (the 3RD) is played to 15 points with a minimum
lead of 2 points, with no limit of points.
7.4.2 In the 3rd set, the change of courts occurs in each multiple of 5 (five).
7.4.3 The intervals (rest time) between the sets last 03 (three) minutes.
CHAPTER IV
PREPARATION OF THE MATCH, STRUCTURE OF PLAY
8 - PREPARATION OF THE MATCH
8.1 COMPETITION
The tournaments and championships’ draws will be made by the technical commission,
according to the available time and the number of teams registered.
8.2 COIN TOSS
After the official warm up, the first referee conducts the coin toss in the presence of the team
captains, where appropriate. The winner of the coin toss chooses: Either the right to serve or
receive the service or the side of the court. The loser takes the remaining choice.
8.3 WARM-UP SESSION
Prior to the match, the players may have a 5-minute warm-up period.
8.3 SERVICE ORDER
8.3.1 The service order of each team will be informed by the second referee prior to the start of the
match;
8.3.2 It is a fault when the service is not executed according to the service order. The serving fault
is sanctioned with the “rally” loss.
CHAPTER V
PLAYING ACTIONS
9 - STATES OF PLAY
9.1 BALL IN PLAY
The rally begins with the referee’s whistle. However, the ball is in play from the service hit.
9.2 BALL OUT OF PLAY
The rally ends with the referee’s whistle. However, if the whistle is due to a fault made in play,
the ball is out of play from the moment the fault was committed.
9.3 BALL “IN”
The ball is “in” when it:
9.3.1 Touches the ground of the playing court including the boundary lines.
9.3.2 Touches the ground out of the playing court, but the ball touches the boundary lines.
9.4 BALL “OUT”
The ball is “out” when it:
9.4.1 Falls on the ground completely outside the boundary lines (without touching them);
9.4.2 Touches an object outside the court, the ceiling or a person out of play;
9.4.3 Touches the antennae, ropes, posts or the net itself outside the side bands and antennae;
10 - PLAYING FAULTS
10.1 CONSEQUENCES OF A FAULT
There is always a penalty for a fault: the opponents of the team committing the fault wins the
rally, in the deciding set:
10.1.1 If two or more faults are committed successively, only the first one is counted.
10.1.2 If two or more faults are committed by the two opponents simultaneously, a DOUBLE
10.1.3 FAULT is counted and the rally is replayed.
10 – PLAYING THE BALL
11.1 TEAM HITS
11.1.1 Each team is entitled to a maximum of three hits for returning the ball over the net.
11.1.2 These team hits include not only intentional hits by the player, but also unintentional
contacts with the ball.
11.1.3 The player is not allowed to hit the ball two times consecutively.
11.2 SIMULTANEOUS CONTACTS
11.2.1 Two players may touch the ball at the same moment.
11.2.2 When two teammates touch the ball simultaneously, it is counted as two hits.
11.2.3 If two teammates reach for the ball but only one player touches it, one hit is counted. If
players collide, no fault is committed.

11.3 ASSISTED HIT
Within the playing area, a player is not permitted to take support from a teammate or any
structure/object in order to reach the ball. However, the player who is about to commit a fault
(touch the net or interfere with an opponent, etc.) may be stopped or held back by a teammate.
11.4 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIT
11.4.1 The ball may touch any part of the body, except for hands, arms and forearms.
11.4.2 The ball must be notably touched.
11.5 FAULTS AT PLAYING THE BALL
11.5.1 FOUR HITS: a team hits the ball four times before returning it.
11.5.2 IRREGULAR HIT: the ball touches the player’s arms, forearms or hands.
11.5.3 ASSISTED HIT: a player takes support from a teammate or any structure/object in order to
reach the ball.
11.5.4 DOUBLE CONTACT: a player hits the ball twice in succession or the ball touches various parts
of his/her body successively
12 – BALL AT NET
12.1 BALL CROSSING THE NET
12.1.1 The ball sent to the opponent’s court must go over the net within the crossing space
The crossing space is the part of the vertical plane of the net limited as follows:
 BELOW - by the top of the net;
 AT THE SIDES - by the antennae and their imaginary extension;
 ABOVE - by a ceiling or structure (if any).
12.1.2 A ball directed to the opponent’s court out of the crossing space may be played back, since
it has not crossed the vertical plane of the net;
12.1.3 The ball is “out” when it crosses completely the lower space under the net.
12.2 BALL TOUCHING THE NET
While crossing the net, the ball may touch the net, even in the service.
12.3 BALL IN THE NET
A ball driven into the net may be recovered within the limits of the three team hits.

13 – PLAYER AT THE NET
13.1 REACHING BEYOND THE NET
A player is permitted to penetrate the opponent’s space under the net, provided that it does not
interfere with his action of play.
13.2 CONTACT WITH THE NET
13.2.1 It is not permitted to a player contact with any part of the net or antennae;
13.2.2 Incidental contact of the hair is never a fault.
13.3 PLAYER’S FAULTS AT THE NET
13.3.1 A player touches the ball or an opponent in the opponent’s space before or during the
opponent’s attack-hit.
13.3.2 A player penetrates into the opponent’s space interfering with the latter’s play.
13.3.3 A player touches the net.
14 - SERVICE
The service is the act of putting the ball into play by the correct serving player who, positioned in
the service zone, puts the ball on the sand and hits it with one foot.
14.1 FIRST SERVICE IN A MATCH
The first service is executed by the team determined by the coin toss.
14.2 AUTHORIZATION OF THE SERVICE
The first referee authorizes the service after having checked that the correct server is in
possession of the ball behind the end line and that the teams are ready to play.
14.3EXECUTION OF THE SERVICE
14.3.1 The server can place the sand mount inside the service zone, since it is behind the back
boundary line.
14.3.2 The server must hit the ball within 5 seconds after the first referee whistles for service.
14.3.3 A service executed before the referee’s whistle is cancelled and repeated.
14.4 SERVICE ORDER
After the first service in a set, the player to serve is determined as follows:
 When the serving team wins the rally, the player who served before, serves again.
 When the receiving team wins the rally, it gains the right to serve and the player who did not
serve last time will serve.
14.5 SCREENING
The teammate of the server must not prevent either opponent, through screening, from seeing
the server or the path of the ball. A player of the serving team makes a screen by waving arms,
jumping or moving sideways, during the execution of the service, to hide the flight path of the
ball.

14.6 SERVING FAULTS
The following faults lead to a change of service, when the server:
14.6.1 violates the service order;
14.6.2 executes the service over the line;
14.6.3 executes the service and the ball touches the antenna of the net;
14.6.4 executes the service and the ball passes over a barrier;
14.6.5 Serves out;
14.6.6 Does not execute the service properly.
14.7 SERVING FAULTS AFTER HITTING THE BALL
14.7.1 After the ball has been correctly hit, the service becomes a fault if the ball:
Touches a player of the serving team or fails to cross the vertical plane of the net;
14.7.2 Goes “out”
14.8 POSITION:
The server, with the ball, waits the opponents to be positioned, chooses the place for serving and
puts the ball over it. At this moment, the opponent players cannot invert positions, even if the
server decides to change the serve position, that is to say the server has always priority of
positioning.
15 - ATTACK HIT
15.1 DEFINITION
15.1.1 All actions to direct the ball towards the opponent, except when serving, are considered
attack-hits.
15.1.2 An attack-hit is completed the moment the ball completely crosses the vertical plane of the
net.
15.1.3 Any player may carry out an attack-hit at any height, provided that his/her contact with
the ball has been made within the player’s own playing space
15.2 ATTACK-HIT FAULTS
15.2.1 A player hits the ball “out”;
15.2.2 A player touches the net;
15.2.3 A player completes an attack-hit and penetrates the opponent court, raising difficulties to
the defense
15.2.4 A player of the serving team makes a screen after being warned by the first referee.
15.2.5 A player hits the ball within the playing space of the opposing team
CHAPTER VI
DELAYS AND INTERRUPTIONS
16- REGULAR GAME INTERRUPTIONS
16.1 Types:
Regular game interruptions are: time-outs and rest times.
16.2 – Time-out
16.2.1 It is called “Time-out” the regular game interruption and it lasts one (1) minute;
16.2.2 Each team is entitled to request one time-out during the match.
16.3 Request for Regular Game Interruptions
Regular game interruptions may be requested only by the team’s captain, when the ball is out of
play and before the whistle for service.
16.4 Game Delay
An improper action of a team that defers resumption of the game is a delay and
includes, among others:
16.4.1 Prolonging time-outs, after having been instructed to resume the game;
16.4.2 Repeating an improper request in the same match;
16.4.3 Delaying the game
16.5 – Sanctions for Delays
16.5.1 The first delay by a team in a match is sanctioned with a DELAY WARNING.
16.5.2 The second and subsequent delays of any type by the same team in the same match
constitute a fault and are sanctioned with a DELAY PENALTY: loss of a rally = point to the
opponent.
16.6 Injury

16.6.1 Should a serious accident occur while the ball is in play, the referee must stop the game
immediately. The serve and the rally are then replayed.
16.6.2 An injured player is given a maximum of 3-minutes recovery time one time a match.
16.6.3 Only the referee may authorize that a player may leave the playing area without penalty.
16.6.4 If the player does not recover or return to the playing area at the conclusion of the
recovery time, his team is declared incomplete.
16.6.5 In extreme cases, the doctor of the competition and the technical supervisor can oppose
the return of an injured player.
16.6.6 The recovery time will begin when the properly accredited medical staff member(s) of the
competition arrives at the playing court to attend to the player.
16.7 External Interference
If there is an external interference during the game, play has to be stopped and the rally
replayed.
16.7.1 PROLONGED INTERRUPTION
If unforeseen circumstances occur during the game, play has to be stopped and the first referee
with the organizing committee shall decide the measures to be taken to re-establish normal
conditions.
16.8 Court Switches and Intervals
16.8.1 The teams switch after every 6 points (18 points match) and 5 points (15 points match)
played, conforming the competition regulations.
16.8.2 The interval between the matches lasts the maximum of 10 (ten) minutes.
16.8.3 The interval between the sets lasts 03 (three) minutes.
17 – MISCONDUCT
17.1 Misconduct
Incorrect conduct by a team member towards directors, officials, opponent, team-mates or
spectators is a fault and is not permitted; it is classified in four categories according to the
seriousness of the offence:
17.1.1 Unsportsmanlike conduct: argumentation, intimidation, etc.
17.1.2 Rude conduct: acting contrary to good manners or moral principles, expressing contempt.
17.1.3 Offensive conduct: defamatory or insulting words or gestures.
17.1.4 Aggression: physical or verbal attack/aggression.
17.2 Misconduct Penalties
Depending on the degree of the incorrect conduct, according to the judgment of the first referee,
the sanctions to be applied are:
17.2.1 Verbal warning;
17.2.2 Yellow card warning, from the 2nd on it will cause loss of advantage or point marking to
the favoured.
17.2.3 Red card warning, and consequent team’s disqualification.
17.3 Sanctions
17.3.1 MISCONDUCT WARNING: for unsportsmanlike conduct, no sanction is given but the team
member concerned is warned against repetition in the same set.
17.3.2 MISCONDUCT PENALTY: for rude conduct the team is sanctioned with the loss of one point.
17.3.3 EXPULSION: repeated rude conduct, the player is sanctioned by expulsion. The team
member who is sanctioned with expulsion must leave the playing area and his team is declared
incomplete for the match.
17.3.4 DISQUALIFICATION: for aggression or offensive conduct, the player must leave the playing
area and his team is declared eliminated of the competition.
17.4 Sanction Scale
A repeated misconduct by the same player, in the same match, is penalized progressively (the
sanctions are cumulative within a match), as shown in the sanction scale.
Disqualification due to offensive conduct or aggression does not require a prior sanction.
17.5 Misconduct before and between sets
Any misconduct occurring before or between sets is sanctioned according to the sanction scale
and the sanction is applied in the following set.

SECTION II – REFEREES
THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AND OFFICIAL HAND SIGNALS
18 – REFEREEING CORPS AND PROCEDURES
18.1 Composition
The refereeing corps for a match is composed of the following officials:
• The first referee
• The second referee
• The scorer
• Four line judges
Their location on court is shown in the Referee Diagram.
18.2 Procedures
18.2.1 Only the first and second referees may blow a whistle during the match:
- The first referee gives the signal for the service that begins the rally;
- Provided that they are sure that a fault has been committed and they have identified its nature,
the first and second referees signal the end of the rally.
18.2.2 They may blow the whistle during an interruption of play to indicate that they authorize or
reject a team request.
18.2.3 Immediately after the referee blows the whistle to signal the end of the rally, they have to
indicate with the official hand signals:
- the team to serve,
- the nature of the fault (when necessary),
- the player at fault (when necessary).
19 – FIRST REFEREE
19.1 Location
The first referee carries out his/her functions seated or standing on a referee’s stand
located at one end of the net. His/her view must be approximately 50 cm above the net.
19.2 Authority
19.2.1 The first referee directs the match from the start until the end. The first referee has
authority over all officials and team members. During the match, the first referee’s decisions are
final. He/she is authorized to overrule the decisions of other officials, if he/she judges that the
latter are mistaken. The first referee may replace officials who are not performing their functions
properly.
19.2.2 The first referee also supervises the work of the ball retrievers.
19.2.3 The first referee has the power to decide on any matters involving the game, including
those not provided for in the Rules.
19.2.4 The first referee shall not permit any discussion about his/her decisions. However, at the
request of the game captain, the first referee will give an explanation on the application or
interpretation of the Rules upon which he/she has based the decision. If the game captain does
not agree with the explanation of the first referee and chooses to protest against such decision,
he/she must immediately reserve the right to file and record this protest at the conclusion of the
match. The first referee must authorize this right of the game captain.
19.2.5 The first referee is responsible for determining before and during the match whether the
playing area equipment and the conditions meet playing requirements.
19.3 Responsibilities
19.3.1 Prior to the match, the first referee:
 Inspects the conditions of the playing area, the balls and other equipment;
 Controls the teams’ warming-up;
 Performs the coin toss with the team captains.
19.3.2 During the match, only the first referee is authorized:
 to sanction misconduct and delays;
 To decide upon:
- The faults of the player;
- The screen of the serving team,
- The faults in playing the ball,
- The faults above the net and at its upper part.
- The ball crossing completely the lower space under the net.

20 – SECOND REFEREE
20.1 Location
The second referee performs his/her functions standing at the post outside the playing court on
the opposite side of and facing the first referee
20.2 Authority
The second referee is the assistant of the first referee, but has also his/her own range of
jurisdiction. Should the first referee be unable to continue officiating, the second referee may
replace him/her.
20.2.1 The second referee may, without whistling, also signal faults outside his/her jurisdiction,
but must not persist in such signals to the first referee.
20.2.2 The second referee supervises the work of the scorer.
20.2.3 The second referee authorizes the time-outs and court switches, controls the duration of
such and rejects improper requests.
20.3 Responsibilities
During the match, the second referee decides, whistles and signals:
20.3.1 The faulty contact of the player with the lower part of the net and the antenna on the
second referee’s side of the court;
20.3.2 Penetration into the opponent’s court and space under the net;
20.3.3 The ball that crosses the net totally or partly outside the crossing space to opponent court
or touches the antenna on their side of the court;
20.3.4 The contact of the ball with an outside object;
20.3.5 In the case of an injury of a player, the second referee authorizes the recovery time.
20.3.6 Checks, during the match, that the balls still fulfill the regulations.
21 – SCORER
21.1 Location
The scorer performs his/her functions seated at the scorer’s table on the opposite side of the first
referee, out of the free zone.
21.2 Responsibilities:
The scorer fills in the score sheet according to the Rules, in cooperation with the second referee.
21.2.1 Prior to the match and set, the scorer registers the data of the match and teams, according
to procedures in force and obtains the signatures of the captains and coaches.
21.2.2 During the match, the scorer:
 Records the points scored and ensures that the scoreboard indicates the right score;
 Monitors the serving order as each player performs his/her service in the set;
 Indicates the serving order of each team by displaying a sign numbered corresponding to the
player to serve. The scorer indicates any error to the referees
immediately after the serve;
 Records the time-outs checking the number of such, and informs the second referee;
 Announces to the referees the end of the sets, the start and end of time-outs and the court
switches.
 In the case of protest, with the previous authorization of the first referee, writes or permits the
team captain/player to write on the score sheet a statement on the incident protested.
22 – LINEJUDGES
It is compulsory to have two linejudges in official international matches. They stand at diagonally
opposite corners of the court, at 1 to 2 m from the corner.
Each controls both the end line and sideline on their side (Diagram 6).
If four linejudges are used, they stand in the free zone at 1 to 3 m from each corner of the
court, on the imaginary extension of the line that they control
22.1 Location
22.1.1 In case of having four linejudges, they stand in the free zone at 1 to 3 m from each corner
of the court, on the imaginary extension of the line that they control.
22.1.2 If only two line judges are used, they stand at the corners of the court closest to the right
hand of each referee, diagonally at 1 to 2 m from the corner. Each controls both the end line and
sideline on their side.

22.2 – Responsibilities
22.2.1 The linejudges perform their functions by using flags (30 x 30 cm), as shown in Diagram:
 a.1 – they signal the ball “in” and “out” whenever the ball lands near their line(s);
 a.2 - they signal the touches of “out” balls by the team receiving the ball;
 a.3 - they signal when the ball crosses the net outside the crossing space into opponent's
court, touching the antenna. It is primarily the linejudge closest to the path of the ball who is
responsible for the signal.
22.2.2 The linejudges in charge of the end lines signal the foot faults of the server
22.2.3 On the first referee’s request, a linejudge must repeat his/her signal.
23 - OFFICIALS’ SIGNALS
23.1 Referees’ Hand Signals
The referees must indicate by official hand signals the purpose of the interruption of the game
(the nature of the fault called or the purpose of the interruption authorized), in the following
manner.
23.1.1 The signal is maintained for a moment, and if it is indicated with one hand, the hand used
corresponds to the side of the team, which has made a fault or a request.
23.1.2 The referee indicates the nature of the fault.
23.1.3 The referee finally indicates the player who committed the fault or the team that made the
request.
23.2 Linejudges Flag Signals
The linejudges must indicate by an official flag signal the nature of the fault called, and maintain
the signal for a moment.
