Supporting the Teacher Observation Model

Policy TCP-C-004
The intended purpose of the North Carolina Teacher
Evaluation Process is to assess the teacher’s performance in
relation to the North Carolina Professional Teaching
Standards and to design a plan for professional growth. The
principal or a designee (hereinafter “principal”) will conduct
the evaluation process in which the teacher will actively
participate through the use of self-assessment, reflection,
presentation of artifacts, and classroom demonstration(s).

Standard 4c - Video 1: Proficient
The teacher demonstrates a variety of instructional methods
as she attempts to ensure the success of all learners. In
order to meet the needs of students, the teacher uses guided
instruction, questioning, reading strategies, note taking, and
math chant. She allows students to tap into prior knowledge
of fractions and use hexagon manipulatives to represent
fractional parts.

models and allows students to draw figures in class using math
tools.
