The ocean ecosystem provides habitat for many living things. Oceans are divided into five major basins and most life exists in shallow waters where sunlight allows algae and other producers to photosynthesize. Many animals including coral, whales, urchins, squid, seals, sharks, dolphins, shrimp and jellyfish all call the ocean home.
