This document discusses occupational safety and health (OSH) in Delta State and Nigeria. It notes that OSH culture is lacking due to few regulations and research, as well as limited public information and compliance. The oil and gas industry dominates but there is no obligatory OSH practice. It recommends engineers promote OSH by developing safety policies and sensitizing the government to pass OSH legislation in order to reduce workplace accidents that cost lives and money every year in Nigeria. Engineers should design structures safely and encourage a safety culture at home and work.
