This document presents a new technique for improving the recognition rate and security of ear/iris biometric recognition systems using feature extraction and matching. It proposes extracting wavelet-based features from ear images and iris images to more accurately model anatomical structures. The technique uses stochastic clustering to derive a model of ear or iris parts from training images. Recognition performance is evaluated on test sets from the XM2VTS database. Results show the new hybrid method that incorporates wavelet analysis and robust matching achieves promising recognition rates for occluded ear and iris images, confirming the validity of the approach.
