and, learning and retention are functions of regular testing. This study theorises classroom assessments and
links them with implicit theories of learning and retention of knowledge. The subjects of the study were
motivated to maintain the momentum of learning through taking regular tests and subjected to counselling and
regular feedback on the tests they took. The study analysed statistically semester results for five different year
groups of students taught Quantum Mechanics by the same lecturer who adopted weekly testing. The results
show substantial continuous improvements in students’ academic achievement. The results may be indictments
on lecturers who do not use classroom tests to motivate students’ learning.

Nursing students face numerous stresses and challenges that pose threat to their well-being. They require guidance in order to attain satisfactory adjustment in all aspects of daily life in this critical stage of their development. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the guidance needs of nursing students in selected schools in Iloilo City. The sample of this descriptive, comparative study consisted of 283 randomly selected students from four nursing schools in Iloilo City. The Guidance Needs Inventory for Nursing Students (GNINS) developed by the researchers was used to gather data. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, and rank were used to describe the data. Independent Samples t-Test and ANOVA set at 0.05 alpha were employed to find out significant differences between variables. The study revealed that nursing students need guidance to a moderate extent. They need more guidance on the aspects of career and academic. Further, results indicated no significant differences in the guidance needs of nursing students when grouped according to sex, gender, year level, residence, type of school, living arrangement, employment status of parents, monthly family income, number of siblings, birth order and type of family. Guidance remains to be an integral part of nursing education. Continued provision of guidance responsive and relevant to the needs of nursing student cohort is therefore necessary.
A Study on the Mental Health and Self Confidence of B.Ed Students in Coimbato...ijtsrd
India is a very fast developing country of the world. After independence, it has recorded a remarkable progress in every field of life. In this train of progress, the role of education cannot be avoided. Since impendence, many educational colleges and institutions have been established. But these colleges and institutions are not significant on the part of the teachers. The teachers trainees of present day are not knowing their role .In general, Teacher trainees are lack of mental health and self confidence and poor attitude towards teaching profession. So the investigator try to attempt in this present research study to inculcate mental health and self confidence for developing teaching competence among teacher trainees. Casual observations by the investigator of this paper as a teaching practice supervisors shows that many student teachers lack necessary ability to link theories learnt in class to classroom practice. This study will help teachers to understand how mental health and self confidence influences the processes of teaching and learning. This information is lacking in the literature and it is therefore not readily available to help inform educational improvement efforts that support better teaching practices and student performance. The significance of this study lies in its practical application to the Diploma in teacher education programme. This study, using an experimental research model, provides a platform from which an exploration of these areas might begin. This study will help teachers to understand how mental health and self confidence influences the processes of teaching and learning. This information is lacking in the literature and it is therefore not readily available to help inform educational improvement efforts that support better teaching practices and student performance. This information will then be used to identify areas of relative strength and weakness in the pedagogy component of Professional Development and Experience subjects with a view to improving this component of the Course. Impacts of Mentor’s Strategic Communication on Adjustment Problems among Adol...Arun Varghese
ABSTRACT Introduction: Adolescence is the period of rapid changes in physical and mental state. Rapid storm of physiological changes brigs a great deal of stress and adjustment difficulties. It represents one of the critical transitions in the life span with a wide range of adjustment and mental health problems. The present study is aimed to assess the impact of Mentor’s Strategic Communication on adjustment problems among adolescents. Methodology: A quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design was chosen to assess the impact of Mentor’s Strategic Communication by using Self developed Adjustment Inventory among 60 adolescents (30 each experimental and control group) with mild and moderate adjustment problems at selected schools, Kerala. The Samples were selected based on simple random sampling. Appropriate descriptive & inferential statistics was applied to compute the results. Results: Finding reveals that out of 30 students, 70% reported moderate adjustment problems while 30% were in mild adjustment issues in experimental group. There was a significant difference for adjustment problems among experimental and control group after Mentor’s strategic communication (p<0.001). Further, number of siblings (p<0.032) and education status of father (p<0.008) found significant association to adjustment problems among schools going adolescents. Conclusion: The results of the study revealed that majority of adolescents face adjustment problems and Mentor’s strategic communication had significant impact on improvement in adjustment problems. A planned and timely infusion of mentorship strategy may help them to deal with their day to day adjustment problems and help them to focus in studies in a better way. A Study of Anxiety in Relation to Academic Achievement among Higher Secondary...ijtsrd
Our education mainly stresses to develop cognitive aspect which deals with knowledge and to some extent develop cognitive aspect which deals with motor skills. The affective aspect which deals with emotions, feelings and sentiments of the child is totally neglected by our Education. For developing the child emotionally and socially mature, only formal education is not enough but informal education which the child gets from his family and society is also needed. In the past years, there has been extensive research on various approaches of teaching in secondary education. But no one method or approach has been found consistently superior to all. It reveals the fact that no single approach can be best suited to all the students. The most important question is to determine which students achieve more and under what conditions and also the factors which affect the achievement. An emerging area of research that holds promise in helping us to answer these questions is student's level of general mental ability in anxiety and emotional adjustment. Researchers and educationists are now attempting a thorough work in the area of general anxiety and emotional adjustment and found it a very potential one in influencing the student's academic achievement. Causal relationships between risk estimates and alcohol consumptio.docxcravennichole326
Causal relationships between risk estimates and alcohol consumption must be made cautiously as most studies have used a cross-sectional methodology, poor definitions of alcohol use, and inadequate assessments of risk perceptions. Despite a lack of evidence, the concept of adolescent “invulnerability” remains pervasive in both scientific and lay circles, is used to explain adolescents' decisions to engage in a potentially harmful behavior and is incorporated into many intervention programs (Fell, et al., 2015). Longitudinal, prospective studies are needed to understand fully the extent to which perceptions of low risk predict and motivate alcohol use.
I. Perceptions of Alcohol-Related Benefits:
An emphasis on perceived risk alone may be inadequate to predict or change behavior because a risk is only part of the behavioral decision-making equation. What is missing knows the extent to which adolescents perceive benefits of risky behaviors. The decision literature has argued that individuals should consider both the risks and benefits when making decisions. In addition, alcohol expectancy researchers have found that perceived benefits, in addition to perceived risks, are significant predictors of drinking behavior. More recently, Goldberg and colleagues (2002) concluded that, regardless of age, participants with more drinking experience perceived benefits to be more likely to occur, and risks less likely (Grube & Voas, 2014).
Indeed, adolescents' reasons for drinking alcohol often include an acknowledgment or identification of alcohol-related benefits, such as alcohol being used in social interactions to help them to reduce inhibitions, feel more relaxed reduce tension, foster courage, and reduce worry. Attachment theories are based on the view that human beings have an intrinsic and universal desire to be accepted by others. Parent attachment is broadly conceptualized as the overall level of parental responsiveness toward the offspring.
The youth’s internalization of the security of attachment is expected to be imprinted heuristically through interaction with the caregiver, in time becoming relatively resistant to change, showing enduring effects across the lifespan (Miller, et al., 2010). Through the formation of secure bonds to parents, children acquire a robust internal working model of themselves and others.

3. College life can be stressful, it is one of the most
unforgettable experience in one’s life, and the higher
the level the more difficult the lessons encountered.
Nursing student’s goal is to have good grades in all
professional, major and minor subjects and do good in
chosen field as reflected in the performance during
duties. Passing the Nursing licensure exam could be
considered as one of the motivation of the nursing
student since having the title as, a Registered Nurse
would pays it all; the sleepless nights, time consuming
and energy wasting long requirements, the ever
enervating duties and expensive tuition.
4. A motivated student will find it easier to do all the necessary
tasks that need to be done; it will especially allow students
to study a lot more focused and with more concentration.
Being a college student requires a strict self-discipline,
determination and time management, such factors can
contribute a huge impact on student’s motivation towards
their studies. Student have different abilities, some may
manage their emotions, family problems, or financial
problems without being affected in school while some may
be overwhelmed and distracted to the extent that they
cannot focus during class discussion, quizzes, tests and
exams. Some students might be extremely outgoing that
they intentionally missed some school days just to attend
social gatherings or some might had a hangover after a night
party while some are not really into social gatherings.
According to Webster dictionary (2008) motivation is “the
process of starting, direction and maintaining physical and
psychological activities”. While Sevilla (1994) states that, it
is “the force behind behavior”.
5. Nilsson and Stomberg, (2008) found that nursing
students mainly grade their motivation
positively distributed, and different throughout
their entire education. The main motivation
factor was becoming a nurse. The nursing
students mentioned intrinsic motivation factors
as explanation for their degree of motivation.
Nursing students’ motivation has proved be
related to the successful outcome of education.
It is important to investigate how nursing
students assess their motivation during their
studies, and to discover what factors are
related to their motivation as well as what
would increase their motivation if necessary.
