Between 100-200 BC, the Romans began conquering the Mediterranean coasts and Spain. They arrived in Emporion, Spain in 218 BC to fight the Carthaginians. Spain was under Roman control from 218 BC to the 5th century AD. The Romans divided society into social groups - the emperor ruled as Caesar; citizens had rights but women and slaves did not. Romans used coins depicting the current emperor and built monuments like theaters that are now historical sites.

The Cease was the emperor of the Roman Empire.
The citizens were considered members of the city
and they could marry, had properties…
 The non-citizens could be freemen or slaves. The
slaves were owned by a citizen and they had to
work during all day.
 Women were considered non-citizens so they
haven’t got rights. They were always under the
tutelage of a male. However they could have
properties and take part of parties. They were
very important in children education.

6. • The Romans used different coins. The
coin changed very often because it had
the face of the emperor who had by that time.

7. • Asterix and Obelix films are located in France
and represent the fight between the
Romans and Gauls in opposition to the Roman
conquest of Gaul.

8. • The soldiers went to the war in different
formations that were very peculiar. In some
films can be turtles.

9. • The Romans built many monuments which are
now considered historical monuments like
theaters, amphitheaters, acueduct…
