Hybrid storage tiering moves different types of data to the most cost-effective storage tier, whether on-premises or in the cloud. Using Oracle's hybrid storage tiering:
- Hot and warm data remains on-premises, while cold and archive data moves to lower-cost storage in Oracle Cloud.
- The Oracle Storage Cloud Software Appliance provides a bridge between on-premises and cloud storage, allowing for easy data movement with POSIX compliance.
- This hybrid approach lowers overall storage costs by paying only for cloud storage as data is used, versus maintaining all storage on-premises.

FOSDEM'18: MySQL InnoDB Cluster - MySQL HA Made Easy!Miguel Araújo
MySQL InnoDB Cluster provides a built-in High Availability solution for MySQL. It tightly integrates MySQL Server, Group Replication, MySQL Router and MySQL Shell providing an easy-to-use full stack solution for HA.
MySQL Shell main goal is to provide a natural interface for all 'DevOps' tasks related to MySQL, by supporting scripting with development and administration APIs. To allow an easy and straightforward configuration and administration of InnoDB Clusters, the Shell provides a scriptable API - the AdminAPI. This API hides the complexity associated with configuring, provisioning and managing everything without sacrificing power, flexibility or security.
Join this session to understand the key points of MySQL InnoDB Cluster and to learn how to use the Shell and the AdminAPI to configure and manage InnoDB Clusters.

Neil Sholay's presentation November 2015Neil Sholay
The document discusses how digital technologies are disrupting traditional business models. It notes that the largest taxi company owns no taxis, the largest media owner creates no content, the most valuable retailer has no inventory, and the largest accommodation provider owns no real estate. It argues that disruption happens gradually over time, not as a single event. Incumbents often respond slowly to disruption due to existing investments and beliefs. Successful responses identify a disruptor's strengths and advantages, conditions affecting future advantages, and chart a strategic response. The extendable core, which allows disruptors to maintain advantages while improving, is key. New platforms fundamentally rethink traditional assumptions about value creation and consumption.

Come and learn how LSA delivers more accurate, contextualized, precise and relevant insights. Oracle SRM listening capabilities go well beyond keyword and Boolean searches to reveal insights like consumer intent, political intent, product likes/dislikes, and customer service issues.
This document provides an overview of a presentation on mobile business and Oracle's Mobile Cloud Service. It discusses how developing mobile applications and backends can be complicated due to issues like client development tools, integration, security, and supporting multiple environments. It introduces Oracle Mobile Cloud Service as a way to simplify mobile development by providing consumer-style frontends and enterprise-grade backends, and demonstrates how it can be used to support three example mobile applications.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
