PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Hardworking, experienced, highly talented and well qualified Able Seaman, I have a proven track record and an
interesting and varied sea-going career spanning over 30 years in the Merchant Navy. During that time, I have
proved my ability to work well in challenging situations, whilst ensuring safety is at the forefront of everything I do.
Conscientious and driven with a “hands on” approach, I enjoy being at the centre of things and am not afraid of
hard work or getting my hands dirty, carrying out daily maintenance on deck, including painting and repairs as
and when necessary.
Naturally self-motivated and pro-active with lots of energy and enthusiasm, I have extensive experience of
working at sea, in a wide variety of jobs and disciplines, which have involved seamanship, barge handling and
costal towage. In addition I have deep sea experience on tankers, bulk carriers, and chemical tankers. In addition
I have also been involved in rigging and construction work in the past, aboard various tugs and barges. With
extensive knowledge and experience of all rigging related tasks and equipment and lifting procedures, I work well
under pressure, always completing tasks on time and to a very high standard, implementing all company policies,
working practices and procedures, where necessary, upholding rigorous safety measures. Dedicated, energetic,
hard-working and with a good standard of physical fitness, I am used to doing heavy physical work. I am currently
seeking a new challenging Merchant Navy/Offshore role working as either an Able Seaman or Deck Crew. A
holder of both BOSIET and MIST certificates, I also hold a current UK and Norwegian Offshore Medical
Certificate. I am fully committed to my own personal development and enjoy advancing my skills and knowledge.
Ambitious, eager to succeed and a fast learner, I would relish a new role where I have the chance to realise my
full potential, grow as a professional and climb the career ladder.
Loyal, hardworking and a good team player, I have excellent organizational and problem solving skills. I also have
the ability to motivate others and achieve targets in the workplace, working under pressure, following instructions
and troubleshooting when necessary, to meet deadlines and produce strong sustainable results. I also have the
ability to multi-task and prioritise my activities, working on my own initiative with minimum of supervision and
making decisions. I take pride in building good relationships with others and have the communication skills
required to liaise effectively at all levels in a friendly and professional manner.
A self-starter I thrive within a dynamic, exciting and constantly changing environment. I am used to working away
from home and being out at sea in severe and inclement weather conditions. I am able to deal with difficult
challenges quickly, calmly and decisively, remaining focused on a safe and efficient outcome. After many years at
sea, I am aware of all the dangers present and very health and safety conscious. I enjoy a challenge and seeing
a job through from the beginning to its successful completion. I believe that working at sea is more than just a
job, it’s a way of life. As a dedicated, conscientious and methodical professional who works to the highest
standard, I would be an asset to any employer.
