Picking Winner of NCAA Basketball Tournament Using LinkedIn DataLinkedIn
College basketball fans are a dedicated bunch, so we came up with a “dedication score” based on their LinkedIn Profiles to select who we think will be the winner. Here’s the formula:
For each school in the tournament, we calculated
(# of current students and alumni with the word “basketball” in their profile) / (total # of current students and alumni) = Dedication Score
The school with the higher “dedication score” wins their game and advances in the bracket.

Profile:
I am a keen and motivated person who is diligent in carrying out their professional duties whilst willing to undertake
new challenges. Having travelled the world extensively for one year experiencing a variety of cultures and gaining
employment abroad, I became a more motivated and confident person. This has since helped me in my career to
understand and work well alongside my peers, whilst having the ability to be decisive and efficient to achieve a
final outcome.
My experience as a passenger vessel skipper helped to develop a broad range of skills from learning the technical
aspects of the vessel to the overall management of all staff on board. I work well within a team and promoted this
amongst the crew on board with clear communication and methodical planning to undertake our tasks. This
profession required me to be well organised, often solving last minute problems with alternative actions that still
fulfilled our clients demands. Ultimately I learnt the need to listen to our customers’ needs and be flexible which
meant we could excel at providing the best river cruise experience.
Having furthered my career to gain my Deck Officer of the Watch Unlimited certificate of competency I am now
looking forward to new challenges and prospects from working in the wider maritime industry. I would like to go on
to complete more qualifications whilst having the opportunity to work alongside and learn from other maritime
professionals.
Core Skills:
Ability to work with others as a team for a common objective.
