Tips on restores • If you aren’t certain whether or not you’ll run into any conflicts in your production environment, give the restored VM/item a different name. • When doing a Windows File Level Restore, always try “copy to” via UNC path. • If Storage vMotion is an option, always use this instead of Veeam Quick Migration. Veeam will use Storage vMotion by default if we detect it is licensed in VMware. • Please research the status of a running Instant Restore or speak with Veeam Tech Support prior to selecting “Stop Publishing.” Doing this can prevent catastrophic failures. • Be certain whether you are doing a test or production restore. • If at any point you don’t feel confident about a restore, or if you just have questions, please feel free to contact Veeam Tech Support.
- 16. • Determine if your restore is related to production-critical data or if you are testing backups/functionality. • If your restore involves production-critical data, please be sure to communicate this when contacting Veeam Tech Support. Your case will be escalated to our Severity 1 response team. • If your restore does NOT involve production data, Veeam Tech Support can still assist you. Please be ready to provide specifics about your environment, troubleshoot network connectivity and/or involve third-party support if necessary. • Production data restore cases will be worked at the highest severity possible.
