No Pains No Gains Essay
Crafting an essay on the concept of "No Pains, No Gains" presents a unique challenge that
requires a delicate balance of personal perspective, research, and critical analysis. The difficulty
lies not only in exploring the well-known phrase but in delving deeper into its implications across
various aspects of life.
To start, one must grapple with the inherent paradox encapsulated in the phrase itself. The task
demands an exploration of the nuanced relationship between effort and reward, investigating
how the idea resonates in different contexts such as personal growth, academic pursuits, and
professional achievements.
Additionally, constructing a compelling narrative requires the integration of real-life examples,
anecdotes, and perhaps even philosophical perspectives. It's not just about regurgitating the
clichГ©, but about breathing life into it through thoughtful and well-supported arguments.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between presenting a personal
viewpoint and incorporating a broader understanding of the topic. Treading the line between
subjectivity and objectivity is crucial to ensuring the essay remains engaging without losing its
intellectual depth.
Moreover, the research involved in gathering relevant information, statistics, or expert opinions
adds another layer of complexity. The essay should not only be a testament to the author's
insights but also a well-informed piece that contributes to the existing discourse on the subject.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "No Pains, No Gains" is no small feat. It demands a careful
blend of personal reflection, academic rigor, and creative expression. Successfully navigating
this terrain requires not only writing prowess but also a keen understanding of the multifaceted
nature of the topic.
And remember, if you find yourself grappling with such challenges or need assistance in

The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Introduction
College is where young women and men beginning one of the most biggest and
exciting adventures. The students typically move out and begin to experience
adulthood for the first time and often the first time one can begin to make their own
decisions. This also a very stressful times for students as they must deal with the
stress of their school work, internships, living on their own, and in some cases deal
with the effects of sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses has been a
problem for many years; however, in the past several years, this issue has come to
light. In this paper I will discuss sexual assaults being reported and how the
universities deal with the reported sexual assault, the statistics colleges report for ...

The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not
want to single themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it
is a problem for nearly all college campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit
there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students and losing money from
donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to report
their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a
sexual assault the school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault
seriously, could lead to more sexual assaults on campus from the same assaulter.
According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of 1,642 men at two different
colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger number of
men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer
to 25 percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s
abuser, he went on to rape another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the
assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults. Though many colleges have been
outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions typically do
not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual
assault, such as programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh
her article, REACTIVE TO PROACTIVE: TITLE IX S UNREALIZED
CAPACITY TO PREVENT CAMPUS SEXUAL ASSAULT, Only two programs
have rigorous evidence of effectiveness for preventing sexual violence: Safe Dates
and the building level intervention of Shifting Boundaries. Both were developed with
middle/high school students but may provide useful models for the development of
college prevention strategies (1069). Programs like these are often offered at freshman
What Is The Theme Of Unbroken
In the biography Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, the story of an extraordinary man
is unmasked. Louie Zamperini a World War II survivor who inspired others with his

depict one individual from a crowd. It can used to represent anyone, who has shown
the smallest amount of perseverance despite defeat. All things considered, in both
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand and If by Rudyard Kipling, the themes of sanity,

Target Market And Market Segmentation
Target Market and Market Segmentation: The above demonstrated Farmer s Fridge
log has been renovated to reflect a more modern, culturally stimulating and
reflecting the country of the Philippines. The logo consists of a mango like shape
in the back drop which also represents the sun. This decision is based off of one of
the Philippines most popular fruits, the mango. The reference to the sun derives from
the country s flag which has a sun with eight rays shooting off that reflect the
countries eight provinces. The updated company s logo also incorporates the yellows
and greens used within the original logo; but are focused on being more vibrant and
unified within the images and letters. The incorporation of the palm trees within the

Ups History
Also known as United Parcel service UPS was founded in 1907.Ups is the world s
largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialized
transportation and logistics services according to ups.com. Started by a couple of
teenagers named Jim Casey and Claude Ryan UPS was originally know as The
American Messenger Company and was based out of Seattle, Washington.
Formerly known as messengers, UPS workers in the early 1900 s delivered most of
their packages on foot or bicycles. Jim always had strict policies for customer
courtesy, reliability, round the clock service, and low rates. Jim s slogan was best
service and lowest rates, drove the company in 1907, and are the basis of UPS even
today. Improvements came to the company... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1988 the FAA granted UPS a license to operate an airlinefor the shipment of
parcels, which they had already been doing, through Ryan Aviation. In 1983, UPS
chose Ryan Aviation International to operate the company s air parcel business
using jet aircraft. Ryan operated the 727s in and out Louisville. UPS also chose
Ryan to fly their 757s. Ryan was the first operator of the 757 200. UPS used its own
system of operations in some areas of the United States to send its cargo around
the world. Its main hub was and currently is located in Louisville International
Airport. UPS chose Louisville for two reasons. First, because of the location,
Louisville is in one of the best geographical locations in the world. From here, UPS
can reach the majority of the United States population within two or three hours air
time. Also, Louisville Airport has a history of remaining open. The airport has only
been closed once, and that was due to a snow storm in 1994. According to company
records, UPS handles 1.3 million air packages each and every day at Louisville,

The Components Of Linux And Windows Systems
Today, many people rely on computers and other devices to simplify and
convenience their lives. Most users do not even consider the complexity that allows
the device to operate. And staggeringly, every electronic item we use today has
some sort of functioning operating system to allow it to carry out its objective task.
A computer operating system is one such program that has rapidly evolved to simply
the use and capabilities of computers. Two widely known and used operating systems,
Windows and Linux, are contending for the user market and have transformed over
the years and do their best to offer what the user is demanding. Initially the
differences between Windows and Linux were like night and day. Now, as time goes
on, the things that set them apart have become blurry. What really separates these
two is what lies deep in the coding to make the operating system more efficient,
secure and user friendly.
Assessing the differences and similarities between the components of Linux and
Windows systems, a user can decide which system would best meet their needs. The
architecture of the kernel and how it operates can play a factor for security and
efficiency. The visual aspect and workability with the Graphical User Interface(GUI)
or command interface can employ ease of use or offer streamlined productivity. Then
lastly, looking at the statistical data regarding Total Cost of Ownership and general
popularity by actual use and preference will be compared.

A Report On Tree Pits
Tree pits shall be three times the size of the root ball to be planted, with a minimum
depth of 1.5 times the depth of the root ball. The bottom of the pit shall be forked
over to an additional depth of 300mm to facilitate root penetration, air movement and
free drainage. See SD 702 sheets 1 or 2 for installation details.
Mulch to tree pits in reserves shall be placed over the tree pit radially to 1000mm
from the trunk of the tree or to the extremity of the tree s drip line, whichever is the
greater. Mulch to tree pits in streets shall be spread radially to 600mm from the trunk
of the tree.
Mulch shall not touch the stems of plants. A small circle shall be cleared (diameter of
50mm minimum) around the stem to avoid stem rot.
Topsoil shall not be mixed into the mulch during placement, planting or weeding.
Bark mulch shall not be placed below the annual flood level within the channel or
within regularly inundated tidal margins.

The Adolescent Crisis of The Catcher in the Rye Essays
The Adolescent Crisis of The Catcher in the Rye
Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is valid, realistic, representation of the adolescent
world. The book is about adolescent crisis.
The main character, Holden, runs away from his expensive school because he is an
academic failure and finds intolerable the company of so many phoneys. Holden is a
rangy sixteen year old who has grown too fast. Girls are on his mind. Whenever
girls do something pretty, even if they re ugly or stupid, you fall half in love with
them. Sex is something I really don t understand too hot. You never know where the
hell you are. I keep making up these sex rules for myself, and then I break them right
away. Last year I made up a rule that I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yet, Holden s own sex drive is very much alive; it is part of the irresistible thrust
toward adulthood. He does not want to deny it; in this respect he wants to be grown
up.
The action of the novel is centered around the athlete Stradlater, who is a very sexy
bastard, and who has borrowed Holden s jacket and girl. When he returns from the
date Holden provokes him into a fight. Get your dirty stinking moron knees off my
chest, says Caulfield to Stradlater. You re a stupid dirty sonuvabitch of a moron.
After the fight he goes next door to Ackley s room for companionship. That guy
had everything wrong with him; sinus trouble, pimples, lousy teeth, halitosis,
crumby fingernails. You had to feel a little sorry for the crazy sonuvabitch. But he
can find no comfort or solace in the room which stinks of dirty socks. I felt so
lonesome, all of a sudden, I almost wished I was dead. 4
It is, however, the imminently dangerous quality of sex that is frightening. When
Holden asks his roommate if he had sex, That s a professional secret, buddy. When
Holden recalls for this sexy bastard how he had met Jane and goes on to say that he
used to play checkers with her. Stradlater s contemptuous comment is Checkers, for
Chrissake! This girl, who had had a lousy childhood with a booze hound for a
stepfather running around the goddamn house naked, always kept her kings in the
back row. 5 The symbolism of this
Essay about Media Violence
Violence has been a contributing negative factor to society throughout history. Many
researchers believe that the use of violent media, particularly video games, play a
huge role in the downward trend of behavior and attitude of youth, and that this
behavior continues to spiral out of control. However, other researchers believe that
since violencehas been occurring since the beginning of time, that adolescence are as
capable today of violence, as they were a thousand years ago. Research has been
found to link violent maladaptive behavior to the use of video games, but other
researchers believe that the outcome is inconsistent to the findings, since the results
are often skewed. Meta analysis have statistically proven that... Show more content on

Two studies were conducted to compare and contrast video gamers moral attitudes
towards violence in video games, and to reveal whether this moral attitude correlates
to real life situations. Media Psychology purports that In both studies, justification of
virtual violence and user s trait empathy determined guilt in a structurally similar way
to real world scenarios (g.
1644). Players, especially those who were empathetic, felt just as guilty engaging in
virtual violence as they would have had if engaging in unjustified violence in the real
world. Research has concluded that violent media content is responsible for
desensitization to violence, although those whom are desensitized have no greater
tendency towards violence.
According to Becker Olsen (2010) desensitization to violence is a reduction in
emotion related physiological reactivity to real violence (pg. 85). Those whom are
desensitized show a greater tendency to viewing violence as normal, but out in the
real world show no inclination to acting violent because of the desensitization. The
American Academy of Pediatrics (2001) reports that today s younger audiences are
more desensitized to violence, not solely because of violent content of media games,
but because of a diet of violent television, movies and
My Experience Of Playing Basketball
The first time I played basketball was like the first time finding myself. I started
playing basketball when I was very young and I fell in love with it. I was really really
good from a young age, I had an innate ability to play basketball. I had fun dribbling
and doing all the dirty work, I liked the running and playing defense I loved every
aspect of the game. The first experience I remembered was when I was in 4th grade
and it was the champion ship game against Lakeland. Lakeland was always super
good and before this game we never have gotten even close to them in score. This
game was different. It was 32 28 our lead and we had 2 mins left. I remember
Lakeland only had one good player and I was guarding him, it was the hardest
challenge of my life because this kid was the best. I was guarding him and he shot a
3 and somehow it went in so now the score was 32 31 with about a minute left. We
had the ball and we were dribbling up the court but somehow, they got the ball back
and scored so now the score was 33 32 their lead. My coach (my step dad) calls a time
out and brings us together and says now boys this is the closest we have ever gotten
to beating this team so let s not let it slip away everyone looked at each other and we
knew we had to do something. So, we made a play so I could score to win the game.
I was so nervous; the play was called 2 . the play would start at the top of the key and
I would have to run up to the elbow and then someone would come and pick for me
and I would do a back door. We tried the play in practice a couple days prior to this
game but we never put it in action. So, the time out ended and we went back on the
court. my heart was beating and my legs were shaking. So, we bring up the ball
and we all get in position, now there is about 40 seconds on the clock and we wait
a little bit before we start the play to take some time off the clock. But then finally
the point guard yells out 2 and my heart drops even more. but I do what I m supposed
to and pop up and then here comes the screen. I set my guy up the cut back door. I
got a perfect pass from my team mate and I go up for the shot and I get hammered.
Someone fouled me really hard and I fell and I had no idea if it went
Leader Development And Leadership Development
Leaders exist at all levels within an organizational design and should not be
interpreted as only applying to positions of management. Leadership development
programs characterize the institutional desires in creating positive organizational
structure in every realm of the corporation. Recognizing the variation between
different levels of leaders and their contributions, it is critically important to identify
the necessary characteristics of emerging leaders. The knowledge, skills and
abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily at current occupied levels is just as
critical to mission success as readying establishment employees for the next
opportunity. In order to sense levels of excellence, senior leaders can gain a baseline
of capabilities by conducting leadershipand personality profiles of existing employees
and more importantly, decide on principled traits of incoming leaders, which ensures
the culture of leadership that is desired.
It is paramount to understand the difference between leader development and
leadership development (Day, 2001) in addition to the basics of organizational
scanning to enhance the employee experience, directly effecting business outcomes.
Day studied the best practices, as well as, the most current research performed on
leadership development issues, including coaching, mentoring, and 360 degree
evaluations among others, which should be utilized in ascertaining context.
Synchronously, current perceptions of leaders within the
Biological Oxygen Demand ( Bod )
Other Parameters Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) is also monitored to
quantify the amount of oxygen needed to break down organic material in a water
sample. BOD was generally higher and more variable at different locations around
Abu Dhabi City and in Confined Areas, although mean BOD at all locations was
generally lower from 2013 2015 than in previous years for which data are
available. Total Suspended Solids (TSS) are solids in water that can be trapped by
a filter and may include a wide variety of material, such as silt, decaying plant
matter, industrial wastes, and sewage. In general, TSS has been higher in the past
5 years in Confined Areas than at the other stations. TSS has declined since 2011 at
all locations except in MPAs, where the annual mean TSS was highest in 2013.
Mean TSS in 2015 was highest in May in Confined Areas. Organic pollutants are
chemical compounds that contain carbon and have a negative effect on one or more
components of the environment. From 2011 2015, EAD monitored marine waters
for two organic pollutants: total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs) and
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). TPHs is a term used to describe a mixture of
several hundreds of chemical compounds that are derived from crude oil.
Measurable background concentrations of TPH can be a result of excess oil
contamination or in some cases the result of a natural petroleum seep. High levels of
some petroleum hydrocarbons can cause adverse health effects, including benzene,
which is a
Analysis Of The Poem I Hell And Back
Audie Murphy, one of the most well recognized and most decorated soldiers of the
United States Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him
respect and awards. The first, his efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern
France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. The second, in a battle outside
of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are these events
well documented for official records, they appear in his autobiography To Hell and
Back, ghostwritten by David Spec McClure with Murphy providing details, along
with various sources which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who
served with Murphy which they gave for his medal citations, and a recently published

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also
of Company B. Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two
Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which
both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being
responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports
Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he
places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which
Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with
Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools
of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of
reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a
machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine,
while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had
approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham
all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun which he had captured like a
BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail wasn t
mentioned by Hollen, who
Gustre Dore Reflection
On Tuesday, July 11, 2017, I made a trip to the Denver Art Museum. I found a
painting by Gustave Dore, a French painter from Paris, France. The piece was, The
Family of Street Acrobats: the Injured Child painted in 1873. After studying this
piece of art in person I noticed many different elements and characteristics in the
actual painting. These are not seen in the photographed imageof the painting that is on
the Denver Art MuseumOnline.
There are many visual elements that are taken away from a painting when it is
made available in an online collections website. When I saw The Family of Street
Acrobats: the Injured Child I immediately went up to it and I could see the texture
of the paint, the line and the blobs on the mothers dress and the long lines of the
back ground. The paint was raised, which you cannot observe in the online picture.
The picture online was obviously edited. The color and light are changed
significantly through the editing. It makes the painting look very light and you are
able to see more detail without having to look at it for long. By making the painting
brighter it took away from the original colors of the paint. The father is too bright.
This change seems to alter the mood and energy that the painting is projecting. The
size of the painting is misrepresented in the editing of it. When comparing the two
you can see that the online image was cropped. This takes away the space at the very
top of the painting. This is significant because you lose
Media And Its Effects On The Media Essay
In modern societies, the availability of information is vital to better decision making
by voters, consumers, and investors. Much of that information is provided by the
media, such as newspapers, television, and radio, which collect information and make
it available to the public. As Americans, we trust what reporters write in the
newspaper, and say on television and radio stations. Although we expect them to
report the truth, current media outlets distort thier stories and give certain news
reports disproportionate attention. The most important stories are often never seen on
Television, read in the newspaper, or heard on the radio stations, while minor and
trivial stories get the most news coverage. Hence celebrity engagements, divorce,
entrance in rehabilitation centers and DUI cases are sold to the media and then
regurgitated to us Americans which are left with inconsequential information. The
media actually makes sure to feed us distracting information to keep us from the truth
and avoid social movements that can highly affect the one percent of the USA.
Mainstreammedia has the power to misinform the public therefore becoming in a way
a social movementagainst public spheres and social movements created by the 99%

Social movements come and go, representing all political beliefs, and aim to achieve
their political objectives by impelling a particular target group s opinion. Some

Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension
Workplace Tension
In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that
helped establish montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to
unite four disparate storylines under the common theme of love s eternal battle with
intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved its goal, some of his
contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein, 241).
Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was
impossible because the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning.
Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of conflict between shots prevented the
synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true that Intolerance
generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt
Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it,
there are examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher
meaning in the scene depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never
incorporates montage tropes into his films is false as demonstrated by the social
criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers and Mr. Jenkins.
Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a
greater abstract meaning. By abstract, Eisenstein means that the significance of the
juxtaposition is not confined to the individual images on the screen.
The Effects Of Free Secondary Education On The Middle
Class
Free Secondary Education
What parents do not want their kids to have it better than they did? They way to
the middle class is even harder to obtain today. The old way to the middle class
was a high school degree and a factory job. In the new flat world with outsourcing
these jobs are no more. The new way to the middle class is a secondary education, and
that costs lots of money. Even though free community college would cost US
taxpayers 65 billion dollars in 10 years, it would make college education more
accessible than ever before. We should also consider free vocational school. With
education becoming free and more accessible, this would not only help the ambition
gap, but also the gap at the bottom, and the gap at the top. Filling all of these gaps
would help the US economy grow substantially.
What is this globalization that Friedman, the author of The World Is Flat, talking
about? According to Friedman, there are three eras of globalization: Globalization
1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. Globalization 1.0 was about countries, how much power you had,
and how you could deploy it. Globalization 2.0 was about multinational companies
and their breakthroughs in hardware. Finally, there is the current era of
globalization, which is called globalization 3.0. It is being driven by people because
more and more people are able to plug in and play in the global economy.
Globalization 3.0 is about talent and the ability to be better than other people around
the world. Globalization 3.0 shrunk
The Surfrider Foundation Essay
The Surfrider Foundation The SURFRIDER FOUNDATION is a non profit
organization that works to protect and preserve the world s oceans, waves, and
beaches. The site shows their dedication to bringing awareness to the problems our
oceans are facing, cleaning up and taking care of the beaches that are both closed,
and open throughout the world. Nationwide, in just about every state, some
portion of the beach is public land, which means that all members of the public
have the right to use that portion of the beach. Surfrider recognizes that access to
public beaches is the public s right of access to waterways. The foundation also
realizes the safety hazards of having a polluted ocean. Polluted oceans can mean
dangers for swimmers and for other sea creatures that are important to us and our
well being. This beach friendly foundation is working very hard to preserve and

Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness Of Government
Between 1530 and 1539
The most influential and controversial thesis concerning Cromwell s role in the
revolution in government in the 1530s was Elton s The Tudor Revolution in
Government . In this work, Elton asses Cromwell as the most remarkable
revolutionary in English history. . Elton argued that Cromwell seized the unique
opportunity presented by Henry VIII s martial problems to turn England into a
unified, independent sovereign state, ruled by a constitutional monarch through
national and bureaucratic institutions. This is certainly true to an extent however it
could be argued that these changes were reactionary ... Show more content on

The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk,
seem indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts
obviously take responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell.
The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to
royal government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the
impetus need to come from the monarch or chief minister. This would be
particularly important after Cromwell s downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did
not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers were failing, and even more
after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women. The Privvy
Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the
management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s
reign, but it is most doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned
it.
Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development
of the Privvy Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of
the haphazard medieval Council into a more formally constituted board of
government; and by the promotion of the principal secretary (himself) to get himself
appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister. Rather than judging it to be
part of Cromwell s plan to
The Problem Of Car Accidents
Introduction and background Since the creation of automobiles in 1769, the
number of cars on the roads has drastically increased and with it the number of car
accident. In the United Stated there have been a total of 32,719 car accident; in the
year 2013 that either did or did not involve pedestrians or cyclist. The
overcrowding of streets and large number of car accidents can be attributed to the
large influx of cars. While the number of accident in Texas is high standing at
3,382 as of 2013; a large amount; 10% of those accident took place in Harris
County, in comparison to other counties in Texas that have less than .1%. Car
accidents have many causes such as running red lights, drinking and driving,
speeding, use of mobiles, lack of sleep and vigilance while preforming the task of
driving. These actions caused numerus deaths of the drivers, passengers, and
pedestrians. Which is also why the leading cause of death in children is car
accidents. Problem The problem at its core of car accidents is the overcrowding of
the roads; which is not only a social issue but a financial issues due to the huge
costs that are placed on the public and the government in order to cover an accident;
while cost is a term that is more than often used to discuss money, in this instance it
will also be used to not only describe money but also monetary gain through an
occupation. While the majority of the expenses are covered by the people that were
involved in the incident there are also the

quite a resume in that short time. Some of his credits include Dawn of the Planet of
the Apes (utility stunts/double for Enrique Murciano) and Django Unchained (stunt
performer). He is also frequently doubles for actor Liam Hemsworth and worked on
the last three Hunger Games films among other Hemsworth projects. Recently he did
the stunts for Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doomin the latest Fantastic Four. We had
a chance to ask Erik some questions about working on Fantastic Four as well as his
experience so far in the stuntindustry.
When did you decide to become a stuntman? Why?
It was about 6 years ago I officially began working as a stunt performer, but I was
certainly trying a lot earlier than that, haha. However, only in the last 2 3 years have I

Being so busy I think I experienced a little burnout and wasn t being as active as I
had always been. I ve been an athlete my entire life and I think I was missing that
part of my identity. That in conjunction with the lack of creativity in my work
really started to affect me emotionally and I became open to the idea of doing
something more active and creative. Being a stunt performer gives me that; it
allows me to be extremely active physically, to travel, and to see myself in my work,
I love it!
What is your favorite action film growing up?
I didn t grow up watching a lot of movies; I was more of a bookworm when I was
younger. Sports and martial arts also kept me pretty busy. But I suppose when I did
watch action movies I enjoyed westerns, the Rocky and Indiana Jones films as well
as anything with Jackie Chan in it, but no favorite.

Disadvantages Of Resolution 2098
Resolution 2098 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 28th
March 2013 regarding the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The
UN recognized the lack of progress in DRC and adopted the resolution creating the
Intervention Brigade unanimously. These difficulties had already been highlighted
previously and it was recommended to address the violence issue in a more robust
way, notably after the humanitarian failures of the 1990s (genocide in Rwanda, in
Srebrenica, massacres in refugee camps in DRC , etc.) Resolution 2098 created a
new mandate for the stabilization force in the DRC (Mission de l Organisation des
Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en RГ©publique dГ©mocratique du Congo, or
MONUSCO) which included a Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) tasked with carrying
out targeted offensive operations to neutralize armed groups with the intent of
preventing violence against civilians and protecting them under imminent threat .
The mandate included the employment of all necessary measures and went beyond
the mandate of MONUSCO, making it the first ever offensive force under the
control and command of the UN. Even though the FIB is part of MONUSCO, that is
a peacekeepingoperation, the mandate was given under the Chapter... Show more

It started in 1999 with the creation of MONUC, which mandate was based on Chapter
VI of the Charter that unlike the Chapter VII requires the consent of the State to
intervene. Since its creation, MONUSCO has achieved a great goal in helping the
political negotiations in DRC. However, since the elections of 2006, the UN has been
set aside from the negotiations process and thus could not take part anymore to the
construction of the institutions, which was a primary goal of its mandate. To
overcome this difficulty, the Intervention Brigade was authorized through Chapter
VII of the Charter, that does not require the direct consent of the State to
The Matrix By The Wachowski Brothers
Just what is The Matrix? This is the question that the extremely entertaining and
absurdly thought provoking movie The Matrix, by The Wachowski Brothers,
hopes to answer. How can we know that WE don t live in the Matrix? That is the
question that the movie hopes that we can answer for ourselves. The movie opens
with the apparent double life of Thomas Anderson. Thomas Anderson works a
normal job as a computer programmer, but spends his free time as a freelance
hacker known by the name of Neo. He is contacted one day by the team of the
Nebuchadnezzar, a ship in the real world full of a crew that has been pulled from the
Matrix. After following their instructions and being extracted, he wakes up in a vat
with plugs in him and is rescued... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not the movie the Matrix, but the Matrix in the movie, The Matrix. The Matrix is
pulls on the problem of perception. Humans are grown in fields, harvested, and then
their brains are hooked up to a machine that simulated life while their energy is
harvested. The problem is however, when your senses are being perfectly spoofed
and you are in a near perfect simulation of the world you will not know that you are
not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting parallels to the idea of
dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they happened,
only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of
the Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch
on. This raises an interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and
harvested and the Matrix is the only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix
have to simulate the reality that did exist. Would it not be equally possible for the
simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical laws and color spectrum and
general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? The Matrix was
extremely successful, in my experience, with illustrating this problem that we have.
In the movie, there was someone there to clue the main character into the fact that he
was being deceived, and there was an easy way out the real world was but a phone
Reproductive System Research Essay
Reproductive System Research Essay Between the two reproductive systems, each
contain their own function to provide for the human body. In the female
reproductive system, the different parts include: the ovary, ovum, fallopian tube,
uterus, cervix, vulva, and the vagina. These different parts contribute to the female
reproductive cycle. The ovaries are two oval shaped organs that contain the ovas.
The ovum are female sex cells that unite with male for fertilization. The fallopian
tube releases the eggs. The uterus allows the baby to grow within it. The cervix
forms a barrier between the uterus and the vagina. It expands allows a baby to pass
through it. The vagina is a muscular canal that enables copulation. The structure of
the female ovary is an oval shaped organ that sits above the fallopian tube and the
ovum is covered by a thin membrane. The fallopian tube is a tube extended from
the uterus. The uterus is basically the womb that is hollow in the female
reproductive system. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus. The vulva is the
external parts of the female organs that is the opening for the vagina. The vagina is
the elastic tube connecting the cervix of the uterus. To go in more detail, other parts
of the female organs include the labia, hymen, urethra, clitoris, estrogen, and
progesterone. The labia is the inner and outer folds of the vulva. The hymen is a
membrane the closes the opening of the vagina. The urethra is where urine comes out
of the body from the

meeting those goals, and collects and presents data for supervising the learning

Auditory Behavior
2.Topic: Development of Auditory Behavior
Hearing Sensitivity is the ability to detect acoustic energy and the most basic auditory
function. Infants hearing sensitivity at birth is typically significantly worse than
adult thresholds. To measure hearing sensitivity in adults, you perform a routine
audiogram, but infants are not mature enough for this kind of testing, so we use
Observer Based Psychoacoustic Procedure or OPP. It was first used by Lynne
Werner to study auditory behavior in young infants. For this test, the infant and their
caregiver are in a room with a test assistant keeping child engaged. The adults have
headphones on so they don t hear the stimuli and give any hints to the child as are
presented through the loud speakers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children need higher signal levels to detect the presence of sound. Higher frequencies
become adult like before lower frequencies, because in humans there is a high
frequency first maturation pattern. The Olsho et al. 1988 article plots the differences
in thresholds between adults and 6 8 month infants, and the differences between
adults and 10 12 month infants. They measured these results in sound field and under
headphones. Thresholds under headphones are better because infant thresholds are
better under headphones because of the size of their ear canals. It is important to take
this into account when fitting hearing aids. This study also revealed that thresholds
were closer to adult threshold at 10 12 months than at 6 8 months. Researchers have
explained the mechanisms underlying the differences through the development of the
auditory system. The cochlea is mature at birth, so it is not responsible for the
difference in infant and adult thresholds. Until a person is 11 years old, their ossicles
are ossifying and their cavity is improving, so your conductive apparatus is not fully
mature until then. This causes major improvements from infancy to adulthood.

The Problem Of Aging Population
An aging population is a population with an increased median age due to an
increase in life expectancy, accompanied by a decrease in fertility rates. This
phenomena is already occurring in other countries, and the United States is
expected to undergo a similar demographic shift. The population of citizens aged
65 and over is projected to double in the next few decades, from 43.1 million in 2012,
to 83.7 million in 2050, and life expectancy is expected to rise at the same time
(Ortman, Velkoff, Hogan, others, 2014). The most important consequence of this is
an increase in the percentage of older people from 13% to 20%. An increase of these
amount while seemingly insignificant is going to pose a significant burden on the
societal support systems set in place to help older individuals. These burden while
widespread across different departments, is poised to heavily impact a healthcare
climate that is already stretched to the brink. It is essential for adequate preparation
to be made in form of public policies that plan for the future. The three most important
public policy issues facing the United States are reauthorizing the Older Americans
Act, ensuring long termservices and supports, and health coverage for older
individuals. The Older Americans Act of 1965 was the first comprehensive federal
policy directed towards ensuring increased care for older citizens. It created the

Kant s Deontological Ethics
The implication of Kant s Deontological Ethics is that a human being should not
make a promise if they don t intend on keeping it. As well as, a human being should
not lie or break a promise for the sake of achieving or escaping from something
because in the end they will suffer more rather than benefit from it. Kant says that if
a human being wants to make a false promise, then they should ask themselves this,
Is there going to be any consequences from this lie? If not, then it can be an
advantage to the person. Kant talks about the imperatives as good: hypothetical;
attainment of something else and categorical; good in itself. According to Kant,
humans action should always be viewed at the same time as an end (59). No, this

Hospitals are among the most regulated of all building types. Like other buildings,

Hospital patients are often fearful and confused and these feelings may impede
recovery. Every effort should be made to make the hospital stay as unthreatening,
comfortable, and stress free as possible. The interior designer plays a major role in
this effort to create a therapeutic environment. A hospital s interior design should be
based on a comprehensive understanding of the facility s mission and its patient
profile. The characteristics of the patient profile will determine the degree to which
the interior design should address aging, loss of visual acuity, other physical and
mental disabilities, and abusiveness (WBDG, 2010).
Some important aspects of creating a therapeutic interior are: * Using familiar and
culturally relevant materials wherever consistent with sanitation and other functional
needs. Using cheerful and varied colors and textures, keeping in mind that some
colors are inappropriate and can interfere with provider assessments of patients
pallor and skin tones, disorient older or impaired patients, or agitate patients and
staff, particularly some psychiatric patients (WBDG, 2010). * Admitting ample
natural light wherever feasible and using color corrected lighting in interior spaces
which closely approximates natural daylight * Providing views of the outdoors from
every patient bed, and elsewhere wherever possible; photo murals of nature scenes
are helpful where outdoor views are not available * Designing
Act Rule And Preference Utilitarianism
In a simplistic sense Utilitarianism, originally established by Jeremy Bentham, is the
ethical and teleological theory which maintains it is the total consequences of an
action which determines its rightness or wrongness; that is, it is not just my
happiness which should be taken into account but the happiness of everyone
concerned. However, although this is the classical approach to Utilitarianism, this
theory as be interpreted in numerous ways in this essay I will focus on three (Act,
rule and preference utilitarianism). Another approach to moral philosophywas put
forward by Immanuel Kant, Kant proposes that only duty and rules should govern
our actions, as consequences are beyond our control. As a Deontologist Kant faces the
same problems

How Did Charlemagne Develop His Empire
Throughout the reign of Charlemagne, he imposed many crucial developments
which were key to the success of his empire. First off, up until this point in history
so far, high positions in government tended to be given to people who came from
wealthy and noble families. This meant that these people holding high positions felt
as if they were entitled to their positions, often felt they were in a higher social class
from the common person, and thought they did not have to agree with the absolute
ruler on everything since they are a noble in their own right. When Charlemagne
inherited the throne, he set up a new system where high ranking officials, called
counts, were selected by him and only him, and could include even the lowest

It is critical to point out that the main reason why commoners were so afraid of the
Vikings was because they are an especially brutal group of people. They were not
interested in taking over villages and enforcing their own rules, instead they would
ransack the village, horrifically kill everyone, and leave the place in ruins. When
the commoners would flee to the countryside, they would end up running into the
land which was left over to the nobles from the Carolingian Empire. These
commoners would then end up under control by the nobles, and in exchange the
nobles offered protection from the Vikings. This practice was referred to as was
feudalism. Manorialism refers to the economic system which was in place under the
nobles. The peasants, or serfs, would be bound to producing agricultural goods for
the nobles kingdom. In return, the nobles would hire Vassals, or knights to protect
the serfs, and in return the Vassals were given land which was farmed by some serfs
to produce food and income for

Speed Limit Research Paper
In order to reduce fuel consumption as a response to the Mid East Oil Embargo in
1973, the federal government in the United States passed the National Maximum
Speed Limit (NMSL) Law in 1974, which restricted the maximum permissible
vehicle speed limit to 55 mph on all interstates roads. This dramatic reduction to 55
mph reduces road fatalities by 16.4% between 1973 and 1974 (Partyka, 1991), but
it is widely disregarded by motorists. Subsequent research and legislation suggest
the speed limit issue should be revisited and the debate on the effect of speed limit
policy on operating speeds and safety has continued. Consequently, in April of 1987,
Congress passed the Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act
(STURAA), which permitted states to increase speed limits from 55 to 60 or 65
mph on rural interstates highways. 40 states of the 47 states adopted the increased
speed limit within a year; 38 states increased the speed limit to 65 mph in 1987, with
two additional states following suit in 1988.
After that, numerous studies have evaluated the effect of the increased speed limit on
changes in vehicle speeds, suggesting that the increased speed limit causes dramatic

Critique on Kingdom Education Essay
Critique on Kingdom Education
Summary
Kingdom education is a process that begins with a child accepting Christ as their
Lord and Savior and continues with the goal of that child reaching maturity in Christ.
As such, evangelism and discipleship are part of a kingdom education that will train
children to know God and have a biblical worldview. This worldview is taught
through Bible stories, but is also incorporated into every subject and into educational
methods that reflect a biblical philosophy.
Ultimately, parents are responsible before God for their child; however, it is the role
of the church and the school to support the parents in their God given responsibility.
In Kingdom education, these three cords must work in harmony to ... Show more

Kingdom education has two purposes. The first is universal and involves the call
of God upon each child to accept him as Lord and Savior. The second is personal
and involves training each child to obey God s individual call to serve him
throughout their earthly life. Schools prepare students to obey God in this world and
to stand before God for eternity. (2006, p. 168).
A detrimental philosophical element that exists in society today is dualism. Dualism
is the belief that life, and truth, can be divided into the secular and the spiritual. Some
truth and reality is secular, and some is spiritual. This compartmental view of life
causes spiritual truth to be seen as less accurate and real than scientific fact, and
considers God relevant in a religious context, but irrelevant to most of life. Christians
must view all truth as God s truth, and see everything from this supernatural
perspective.
Personal Response
Education plus God equals success. While this statement is true, the job of
incorporating the truth about God into everything taught is becoming increasingly
more difficult. Schultz charted public education s view of reality, truth and value
throughout the history of the United States to show how an unbiblical worldview has
increasingly taken hold of society, the educational system and

Banning Bruce Springsteen s Song Born In The USA
Born in the USA vs. Banned in the USA Although both of these songs feature the
iconic tune of Bruce Springsteen s Born in the USA , their content could not be
more dissimilar. Born in the USA is a well known, but largely misinterpreted and
misunderstood song. Banned in the USA is a comparably less famous parody of
Springsteen s iconic tune. Although Springsteen s song is often thought to be a song
that embodies national pride and patriotism, this could not be further from the truth.
Similarly to Banned in the USA, Springsteen s song is a criticism of America. Born

The Religions Of Christianity And Judaism
Dalai Lama, a well known monk, once said, There is no need for temples, no need
for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my
philosophy is kindness. Religion shouldn t be a complicated topic. Religion requires
the adherent to use their brain and heart as if it was their place of worship. The
adherent s actions take place in the brain; their actions would be part of the worship.
Religion is often associated with philosophy, which is unnecessary. Religion is not
complicated. The adherent of Christianityor Judaismshould have the mindset of
kindness and nothing else. Although the religions of Christianity and Judaism are
similar in viewing Jerusalem as a holy place, they differ in beliefs about Godand
symbols that represent their religion. A common similarity between Christianity
and Judaism is their holy place. Christianity views Jerusalem as a place of holiness
since it was where Jesus dwelled. Erica Chernofsky, a BBC News Reporter,
observes that, Christians see Jerusalem as a holy place of Jesus s death, crucifixion,

Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of 1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25 percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults. Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such as programs against sexual violence. Most users do not even consider the complexity that allows the device to operate. And staggeringly, every electronic item we use today has some sort of functioning operating system to allow it to carry out its objective task. A computer operating system is one such program that has rapidly evolved to simply the use and capabilities of computers. Two widely known and used operating systems, Windows and Linux, are contending for the user market and have transformed over the years and do their best to offer what the user is demanding. Initially the differences between Windows and Linux were like night and day. Now, as time goes on, the things that set them apart have become blurry. What really separates these two is what lies deep in the coding to make the operating system more efficient, secure and user friendly. Assessing the differences and similarities between the components of Linux and Windows systems, a user can decide which system would best meet their needs. When he returns from the date Holden provokes him into a fight. Get your dirty stinking moron knees off my chest, says Caulfield to Stradlater. You re a stupid dirty sonuvabitch of a moron. Players, especially those who were empathetic, felt just as guilty engaging in virtual violence as they would have had if engaging in unjustified violence in the real world. Research has concluded that violent media content is responsible for desensitization to violence, although those whom are desensitized have no greater tendency towards violence. According to Becker Olsen (2010) desensitization to violence is a reduction in emotion related physiological reactivity to real violence (pg. 85). Those whom are desensitized show a greater tendency to viewing violence as normal, but out in the real world show no inclination to acting violent because of the desensitization. • 10. My Experience Of Playing Basketball The first time I played basketball was like the first time finding myself. I started playing basketball when I was very young and I fell in love with it. I was really really good from a young age, I had an innate ability to play basketball. I had fun dribbling and doing all the dirty work, I liked the running and playing defense I loved every aspect of the game. The first experience I remembered was when I was in 4th grade and it was the champion ship game against Lakeland. Lakeland was always super good and before this game we never have gotten even close to them in score. This game was different. It was 32 28 our lead and we had 2 mins left. I remember Lakeland only had one good player and I was guarding him, it was the hardest challenge of my life because this kid was the best. I was guarding him and he shot a 3 and somehow it went in so now the score was 32 31 with about a minute left. We had the ball and we were dribbling up the court but somehow, they got the ball back and scored so now the score was 33 32 their lead. My coach (my step dad) calls a time out and brings us together and says now boys this is the closest we have ever gotten to beating this team so let s not let it slip away everyone looked at each other and we knew we had to do something. So, we made a play so I could score to win the game. I was so nervous; the play was called 2 . the play would start at the top of the key and I would have to run up to the elbow and then someone would come and pick for me and I would do a back door. We tried the play in practice a couple days prior to this game but we never put it in action. So, the time out ended and we went back on the court. my heart was beating and my legs were shaking. So, we bring up the ball and we all get in position, now there is about 40 seconds on the clock and we wait a little bit before we start the play to take some time off the clock. But then finally the point guard yells out 2 and my heart drops even more. but I do what I m supposed to and pop up and then here comes the screen. I set my guy up the cut back door. I got a perfect pass from my team mate and I go up for the shot and I get hammered. Someone fouled me really hard and I fell and I had no idea if it went

Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention . The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back. Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun which he had captured like a BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail wasn t mentioned by Hollen, who

It makes the painting look very light and you are able to see more detail without having to look at it for long. By making the painting brighter it took away from the original colors of the paint. • 15. Media And Its Effects On The Media Essay In modern societies, the availability of information is vital to better decision making by voters, consumers, and investors. Much of that information is provided by the media, such as newspapers, television, and radio, which collect information and make it available to the public. As Americans, we trust what reporters write in the newspaper, and say on television and radio stations. Although we expect them to report the truth, current media outlets distort thier stories and give certain news reports disproportionate attention. The most important stories are often never seen on Television, read in the newspaper, or heard on the radio stations, while minor and trivial stories get the most news coverage. Hence celebrity engagements, divorce, entrance in rehabilitation centers and DUI cases are sold to the media and then regurgitated to us Americans which are left with inconsequential information. • 16. Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension Workplace Tension In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that helped establish montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to unite four disparate storylines under the common theme of love s eternal battle with intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved its goal, some of his contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein, 241). Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was impossible because the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning. Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of conflict between shots prevented the synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true that Intolerance generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it, there are examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher meaning in the scene depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never incorporates montage tropes into his films is false as demonstrated by the social criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers and Mr. Jenkins. Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a greater abstract meaning. By abstract, Eisenstein means that the significance of the juxtaposition is not confined to the individual images on the screen.

They way to the middle class is even harder to obtain today. The old way to the middle class was a high school degree and a factory job. In the new flat world with outsourcing these jobs are no more. The new way to the middle class is a secondary education, and that costs lots of money. Even though free community college would cost US taxpayers 65 billion dollars in 10 years, it would make college education more accessible than ever before. We should also consider free vocational school. With education becoming free and more accessible, this would not only help the ambition gap, but also the gap at the bottom, and the gap at the top. Filling all of these gaps would help the US economy grow substantially. What is this globalization that Friedman, the author of The World Is Flat, talking about? According to Friedman, there are three eras of globalization: Globalization 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. Globalization 1.0 was about countries, how much power you had, and how you could deploy it. Globalization 2.0 was about multinational companies and their breakthroughs in hardware. Finally, there is the current era of globalization, which is called globalization 3.0. It is being driven by people because more and more people are able to plug in and play in the global economy. Globalization 3.0 is about talent and the ability to be better than other people around the world. Globalization 3.0 shrunk

In this work, Elton asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . These facts obviously take responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell. The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women. The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it. Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of the haphazard medieval Council into a more formally constituted board of government; and by the promotion of the principal secretary (himself) to get himself appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister. The UN recognized the lack of progress in DRC and adopted the resolution creating the Intervention Brigade unanimously. These difficulties had already been highlighted previously and it was recommended to address the violence issue in a more robust way, notably after the humanitarian failures of the 1990s (genocide in Rwanda, in Srebrenica, massacres in refugee camps in DRC , etc.) Resolution 2098 created a new mandate for the stabilization force in the DRC (Mission de l Organisation des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en RГ©publique dГ©mocratique du Congo, or MONUSCO) which included a Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) tasked with carrying out targeted offensive operations to neutralize armed groups with the intent of preventing violence against civilians and protecting them under imminent threat . The mandate included the employment of all necessary measures and went beyond the mandate of MONUSCO, making it the first ever offensive force under the control and command of the UN. However, since the elections of 2006, the UN has been set aside from the negotiations process and thus could not take part anymore to the construction of the institutions, which was a primary goal of its mandate. This is the question that the extremely entertaining and absurdly thought provoking movie The Matrix, by The Wachowski Brothers, hopes to answer. How can we know that WE don t live in the Matrix? That is the question that the movie hopes that we can answer for ourselves. The movie opens with the apparent double life of Thomas Anderson. Thomas Anderson works a normal job as a computer programmer, but spends his free time as a freelance hacker known by the name of Neo. Not the movie the Matrix, but the Matrix in the movie, The Matrix. The Matrix is pulls on the problem of perception. Humans are grown in fields, harvested, and then their brains are hooked up to a machine that simulated life while their energy is harvested. The problem is however, when your senses are being perfectly spoofed and you are in a near perfect simulation of the world you will not know that you are not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting parallels to the idea of dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they happened, only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of the Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch on. This raises an interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and harvested and the Matrix is the only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix have to simulate the reality that did exist. Would it not be equally possible for the simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical laws and color spectrum and general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? The Matrix was extremely successful, in my experience, with illustrating this problem that we have. In the movie, there was someone there to clue the main character into the fact that he was being deceived, and there was an easy way out the real world was but a phone
  • 24. Reproductive System Research Essay Reproductive System Research Essay Between the two reproductive systems, each contain their own function to provide for the human body. In the female reproductive system, the different parts include: the ovary, ovum, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix, vulva, and the vagina. These different parts contribute to the female reproductive cycle. The ovaries are two oval shaped organs that contain the ovas. The ovum are female sex cells that unite with male for fertilization. The fallopian tube releases the eggs. The uterus allows the baby to grow within it. The cervix forms a barrier between the uterus and the vagina. It expands allows a baby to pass through it. The vagina is a muscular canal that enables copulation. The structure of the female ovary is an oval shaped organ that sits above the fallopian tube and the ovum is covered by a thin membrane. The fallopian tube is a tube extended from the uterus. The uterus is basically the womb that is hollow in the female reproductive system. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus. The vulva is the external parts of the female organs that is the opening for the vagina. The vagina is the elastic tube connecting the cervix of the uterus. To go in more detail, other parts of the female organs include the labia, hymen, urethra, clitoris, estrogen, and progesterone. The labia is the inner and outer folds of the vulva. The hymen is a membrane the closes the opening of the vagina. The urethra is where urine comes out of the body from the

Infants hearing sensitivity at birth is typically significantly worse than adult thresholds. To measure hearing sensitivity in adults, you perform a routine audiogram, but infants are not mature enough for this kind of testing, so we use Observer Based Psychoacoustic Procedure or OPP. It was first used by Lynne Werner to study auditory behavior in young infants. For this test, the infant and their caregiver are in a room with a test assistant keeping child engaged. Children need higher signal levels to detect the presence of sound. Higher frequencies become adult like before lower frequencies, because in humans there is a high frequency first maturation pattern. The Olsho et al. 1988 article plots the differences in thresholds between adults and 6 8 month infants, and the differences between adults and 10 12 month infants. They measured these results in sound field and under headphones. Thresholds under headphones are better because infant thresholds are better under headphones because of the size of their ear canals. It is important to take this into account when fitting hearing aids. This study also revealed that thresholds were closer to adult threshold at 10 12 months than at 6 8 months. Researchers have explained the mechanisms underlying the differences through the development of the auditory system. The cochlea is mature at birth, so it is not responsible for the difference in infant and adult thresholds. Until a person is 11 years old, their ossicles are ossifying and their cavity is improving, so your conductive apparatus is not fully mature until then. This causes major improvements from infancy to adulthood. Transmits energy more
  • 27. The Problem Of Aging Population An aging population is a population with an increased median age due to an increase in life expectancy, accompanied by a decrease in fertility rates. This phenomena is already occurring in other countries, and the United States is expected to undergo a similar demographic shift. The population of citizens aged 65 and over is projected to double in the next few decades, from 43.1 million in 2012, to 83.7 million in 2050, and life expectancy is expected to rise at the same time (Ortman, Velkoff, Hogan, others, 2014). The most important consequence of this is an increase in the percentage of older people from 13% to 20%. An increase of these amount while seemingly insignificant is going to pose a significant burden on the societal support systems set in place to help older individuals. These burden while widespread across different departments, is poised to heavily impact a healthcare climate that is already stretched to the brink. It is essential for adequate preparation to be made in form of public policies that plan for the future. The three most important public policy issues facing the United States are reauthorizing the Older Americans Act, ensuring long termservices and supports, and health coverage for older individuals. The Older Americans Act of 1965 was the first comprehensive federal policy directed towards ensuring increased care for older citizens. It created the Administration on Aging(AoA), National Eldercare Locator Service, National Family Caregiver

The interior designer plays a major role in this effort to create a therapeutic environment. A hospital s interior design should be based on a comprehensive understanding of the facility s mission and its patient profile. The characteristics of the patient profile will determine the degree to which the interior design should address aging, loss of visual acuity, other physical and mental disabilities, and abusiveness (WBDG, 2010). Some important aspects of creating a therapeutic interior are: * Using familiar and culturally relevant materials wherever consistent with sanitation and other functional needs. Using cheerful and varied colors and textures, keeping in mind that some colors are inappropriate and can interfere with provider assessments of patients pallor and skin tones, disorient older or impaired patients, or agitate patients and staff, particularly some psychiatric patients (WBDG, 2010). * Admitting ample natural light wherever feasible and using color corrected lighting in interior spaces which closely approximates natural daylight * Providing views of the outdoors from every patient bed, and elsewhere wherever possible; photo murals of nature scenes are helpful where outdoor views are not available * Designing

However, although this is the classical approach to Utilitarianism, this theory as be interpreted in numerous ways in this essay I will focus on three (Act, rule and preference utilitarianism). First off, up until this point in history so far, high positions in government tended to be given to people who came from wealthy and noble families. This meant that these people holding high positions felt as if they were entitled to their positions, often felt they were in a higher social class from the common person, and thought they did not have to agree with the absolute ruler on everything since they are a noble in their own right. They were not interested in taking over villages and enforcing their own rules, instead they would ransack the village, horrifically kill everyone, and leave the place in ruins. When the commoners would flee to the countryside, they would end up running into the land which was left over to the nobles from the Carolingian Empire. This dramatic reduction to 55 mph reduces road fatalities by 16.4% between 1973 and 1974 (Partyka, 1991), but it is widely disregarded by motorists. Subsequent research and legislation suggest the speed limit issue should be revisited and the debate on the effect of speed limit policy on operating speeds and safety has continued. Consequently, in April of 1987, Congress passed the Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act (STURAA), which permitted states to increase speed limits from 55 to 60 or 65 mph on rural interstates highways. 40 states of the 47 states adopted the increased speed limit within a year; 38 states increased the speed limit to 65 mph in 1987, with two additional states following suit in 1988. This worldview is taught through Bible stories, but is also incorporated into every subject and into educational methods that reflect a biblical philosophy. Dualism is the belief that life, and truth, can be divided into the secular and the spiritual. Some truth and reality is secular, and some is spiritual. This compartmental view of life causes spiritual truth to be seen as less accurate and real than scientific fact, and considers God relevant in a religious context, but irrelevant to most of life. Christians must view all truth as God s truth, and see everything from this supernatural perspective. Personal Response Education plus God equals success.
