Nirala Sweets was established in 1948 in Lahore by Taj Din and grew to 32 branches throughout Pakistan. Under Farooq Ahmed's leadership in the 1980s, Nirala underwent a modernization process, renovating outlets, uniforms, and introducing new products and packaging. However, under Faisal Farooq, Nirala entered the dairy business, taking a large loan to build a factory. This resulted in major losses, ending the large empire as the loan couldn't be recovered.
