CREATING A BLOG
● Blog is an abbreviated version of
"weblog," which is a term used to
describe websites that maintain an
ongoing chronicle of information. They
consist of discrete entries (posts)
typically displayed in reverse
chronological order.
● Blogging is really important for your
future and career. You can position
yourself as an expert and trustworthy
go-to person in your field by sharing
helpful advice through blog posts.
Blogger ● According to Wikipedia, there were
around 172 million Tumblr and 75.8
million WordPress blogs in existence
on February 20th,2014. According to
critics and other bloggers, Blogger is
the most popular blogging service
used today.
● Blogger is a lot more easier to use
than the other blog sites. Even then,
Google has it’s own Blogger Starter
Guideline you can find online which is
really helpful.
E-SAFETY
PREVENTION TIPS
● Keep shared information at a minimum.
● Your passwords should consist of at least 10
characters,both upper and lower case
letters,numbers,Symbols and it shouldn’t contain
dictionary words.
● Avoid scams and illegal activity(such as torrents).
● Don’t forget to log off from your accounts on public
computers.
E-safety is the knowledge of maximizing the user's personal safety while using
the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general. As the
number of internet users continues to grow worldwide, internet safety is a
growing concern for both children and adults.
Safe Search
● The internet is full of text and
images that are unhealthy for kids.
If you are a teacher or a parent who
wants kids to use internet safely;
kidrex and kidzsearch are ideal for
you.
● You can get more reliable and
useful results while using Google
Advanced Search.
● If you use quotation marks around a
phrase,the search engine will get
you the results with the specific
phrase.
Cyber-bullying
● One of the most common concerns
regarding e-safety is cyber-bullying.
Cyber-bullying is the act of using the
internet,cell phones, or other
technology gadgets to send text,or
post images intented to hurt or
embarras another person.
● If you or someone you know is getting
bullied on the internet,reach out and
ask for help because cyber-bullying
can cause a lot of problems in teens’
lives that might result in death.
SOCIAL BOOKMARKING
Social bookmarking helps people to
store,organize,search,share and
manage "bookmarks" of web pages.
These bookmarks can be accessed
from any computer. Most social
bookmark services are organized by
users applying “tags” or keywords to
content on a Web site. You can
keep your bookmars private or
make them public. In many cases,
users can also comment or vote on
bookmarked items.
Diigo
● Annotate websites with
highlighting or virtual sticky notes.
● Share websites with groups or the
entire Diigo social network.
● Save important websites and
access them on any computer.
● Categorize websites by
titles,notes,tags and lists.
Diigo is a powerful information capturing, storing, recalling and sharing tool.

● Your class can use Diigo to review content
in a type of fact-checking activity. The
internet could be used to research
important points of study and see if that
information can be confirmed with
bookmarks.
● In class, you can begin a topic of study
with an information search to preview the
content.

about the bookmarks. Annotations could
be used to gauge student thinking.

Dual Coding Theory
A picture is worth a thousand words. Because of Dual Coding Theory.
● Dual Coding Theory refers to dual channels for processing and storing
visiual and verbal information. Clark&Paivio 1991.
● Text is processed and encoded in verbal systems and pictures are
processed both in the verbal and the visiual systems. Pictures may be
remembered better than text because they are coded twice.
Paivio,1986.
● Meaningful learning occurs when learners have to actively process
information , that is,when they integrate both words and pictures into a
meaningful construction. Wittrock,1989.
Technology-Centered or Learner Centered Approach
● Technology Centered
Approach: The focus is
on the capabilities of
cutting edge
technology.
● Learner Centered
Approach: The focus is
on the way that people
learn and process
information.
● Multimedia Principle: People learn better from words and pictures.
● Coherence principle: People learn better when extraneous
words,pictures and sounds are exluded rather than included.
● Voice principle: People learn better when words are spoken in a
standard-accented human voice than in a machine voice or a
foreign-accented human voice.
● Segmeting Principle: Students learn better when a multimedia
lesson is presented in learner-paced segments rather than as a
continous unit.
● The Redundancy Principle: Since people have a limited working
memory,presenting the same information in different formats
impedes learning and causes cognitive overload. (Teachers
should avoid onscreen texts that merely repeat the audio
narration.)

  • 3. CREATING A BLOG ● Blog is an abbreviated version of "weblog," which is a term used to describe websites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. They consist of discrete entries (posts) typically displayed in reverse chronological order. ● Blogging is really important for your future and career. You can position yourself as an expert and trustworthy go-to person in your field by sharing helpful advice through blog posts.
  • 4. Blogger ● According to Wikipedia, there were around 172 million Tumblr and 75.8 million WordPress blogs in existence on February 20th,2014. According to critics and other bloggers, Blogger is the most popular blogging service used today. ● Blogger is a lot more easier to use than the other blog sites. Even then, Google has it’s own Blogger Starter Guideline you can find online which is really helpful.
  • 5. E-SAFETY PREVENTION TIPS ● Keep shared information at a minimum. ● Your passwords should consist of at least 10 characters,both upper and lower case letters,numbers,Symbols and it shouldn’t contain dictionary words. ● Avoid scams and illegal activity(such as torrents). ● Don’t forget to log off from your accounts on public computers. E-safety is the knowledge of maximizing the user's personal safety while using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general. As the number of internet users continues to grow worldwide, internet safety is a growing concern for both children and adults.
  • 6. Safe Search ● The internet is full of text and images that are unhealthy for kids. If you are a teacher or a parent who wants kids to use internet safely; kidrex and kidzsearch are ideal for you. ● You can get more reliable and useful results while using Google Advanced Search. ● If you use quotation marks around a phrase,the search engine will get you the results with the specific phrase.
  • 7. Cyber-bullying ● One of the most common concerns regarding e-safety is cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying is the act of using the internet,cell phones, or other technology gadgets to send text,or post images intented to hurt or embarras another person. ● If you or someone you know is getting bullied on the internet,reach out and ask for help because cyber-bullying can cause a lot of problems in teens’ lives that might result in death.
  • 8. SOCIAL BOOKMARKING Social bookmarking helps people to store,organize,search,share and manage "bookmarks" of web pages. These bookmarks can be accessed from any computer. Most social bookmark services are organized by users applying “tags” or keywords to content on a Web site. You can keep your bookmars private or make them public. In many cases, users can also comment or vote on bookmarked items.

Diigo ● Annotate websites with highlighting or virtual sticky notes. ● Share websites with groups or the entire Diigo social network. ● Save important websites and access them on any computer. ● Categorize websites by titles,notes,tags and lists. Diigo is a powerful information capturing, storing, recalling and sharing tool. Here are just a few of the possibilities with Diigo:
  • 10. Educational Use of Diigo ● Your class can use Diigo to review content in a type of fact-checking activity. The internet could be used to research important points of study and see if that information can be confirmed with bookmarks. ● In class, you can begin a topic of study with an information search to preview the content. ● Diigo could facilitate student discussions about the bookmarks. Annotations could be used to gauge student thinking.
  • 11. DIGITAL STORYTELLING Prof. Helen Barrett ● Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. ● They become memories that don’t easily fade away. ● They include lots of digital elements such as images,sounds,words,voic es,hyperlinks and animations.
  • 12. Storybird One of the most popular digital storytelling sites is Storybird. Storybird is a publishing platform and community based around digital storytelling. ● Here is a list of best sites and apps for Digital Storytelling.
  • 13. Dual Coding Theory A picture is worth a thousand words. Because of Dual Coding Theory. ● Dual Coding Theory refers to dual channels for processing and storing visiual and verbal information. Clark&Paivio 1991. ● Text is processed and encoded in verbal systems and pictures are processed both in the verbal and the visiual systems. Pictures may be remembered better than text because they are coded twice. Paivio,1986. ● Meaningful learning occurs when learners have to actively process information , that is,when they integrate both words and pictures into a meaningful construction. Wittrock,1989.
  • 14. Technology-Centered or Learner Centered Approach ● Technology Centered Approach: The focus is on the capabilities of cutting edge technology. ● Learner Centered Approach: The focus is on the way that people learn and process information.
  • 15. ● Multimedia Principle: People learn better from words and pictures. ● Coherence principle: People learn better when extraneous words,pictures and sounds are exluded rather than included. ● Voice principle: People learn better when words are spoken in a standard-accented human voice than in a machine voice or a foreign-accented human voice. ● Segmeting Principle: Students learn better when a multimedia lesson is presented in learner-paced segments rather than as a continous unit. ● The Redundancy Principle: Since people have a limited working memory,presenting the same information in different formats impedes learning and causes cognitive overload. (Teachers should avoid onscreen texts that merely repeat the audio narration.)

  • 17. How To Use AR in the Classroom Homework: When scan the student homework page; they can see the video of their teachers assisting them in solving a problem. Book Review: By scanning the cover image of a particular book, students can get the overview of that particular book. Deaf Students: Using AR technology flashcard of vocabulary, students can see the video of that demonstrates how to sign a phrase or word.
  • 18. PBS’ Fetch! Lunch Rush This is a wonderful AR app that can be used by the students to solve Maths problems. The app can be best used by the elementary-aged students. Group of students can practice and review maths facts using this app.
  • 19. VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS During a classroom virtual field trip, students can explore places across the high seas, states across our country, and many nearby or far away people, places, and things. This is an opportunity to see and experience the world without ever leaving the classroom. A virtual field trip is a guided exploration through the internet that organizes a collection of pre-screened, thematically based web pages into a structured online learning experience. It’s a simulated, real-time field trip.

  • 21. GAMES AND SIMULATIONS Computer games and simulations can be defined as interactive multimedia with dynamic elements that are under user control. They range from games that require simple, repetitive actions, such as Tetris®, to complex digital worlds. Although similar in many ways, games differ from simulations by including a goal or challenge .

Educational Benefits ● They increase student motivation. ● They facilitate the affective aspect of learning. ● They enhance interpersonal relations and promote interpersonal reward structures for learning. ● They do at least as well as conventional techniques in achieving cognitive outcomes. ● They tend to produce improved communication and discussion within the classroom. ● They tend to produce a more integrated view of the broader context within which sociological concepts fall. ● They promote individual discovery in learning from the learner's own perspective.
