2. WARMING UP
Judging from the title, what do you think the
video you are about to watch is about?
-I think that the video is about an experience in an
airbnb that has changed to be a not-good experience.
3. QUESTIONS (1-10)
1. What are your very first impressions
after watching this video?
I have been totally amazed, I cannot believe that
people like this continue to exist on the planet, this
is incredible.
4. 2. Do you know anyone who has used Airbnb OR
SIMILAR to find accommodation in a private
home? Was the experience positive? Would you
consider this type of accommodation?
I don't know anyone who has used Airbnb, but I do know
people, including my family, who have used similar to get
a house and we have always had positive experiences,
so I would recommend it, but I hope nothing bad ever
happens to us.
5. 3. What are the advantages of staying in a
tourist flat like the ones offered on Airbnb as
opposed to staying in a hotel?
There is more freedom, privacy, comfort and space.
An apartment allows you to watch TV while having a
soft drink without having to be in bed or having to
pay the exorbitant prices of the minibar.
6. 4. What type of people use Airbnb
to find accommodation?
I don't think there is a label for people
who want to use Airbnb, they are just
people who like to stay at home when
they travel.
7. 5. If you were a homeowner, would you ever
consider renting out an extra room or your
whole flat to tourists visiting your city?
My family and I already do it, because we have a house
on the beach and when we don't go, we rent it to
people who want to stay, both in summer and winter.
8. 6. If you were renting out your home to
tourists visiting your city, would you have a
preference as regards the type of lodger
staying in your flat?
In this question, I have no preferences; since I
would not mind that the people who visit my city
stay in my apartment.
9. 7. If your flat was listed on Airbnb, what positive
features would you mention in order to attract
potential lodgers? Is there anything about your flat that
you might play down, or even not mention?
The positive characteristics that it would put would be that it is a
quiet neighborhood to live, there is no noise, the neighbors are
friendly, the furniture is in perfect condition, and you can live at
ease. I think that everything has to be said, both good and bad,
because if not, you would be ripping off the buyer, and then they
would complain.
10. 8. What do you think it’s like to live nextdoor to
a tourist flat? How might this type of
accommodation cause problems for people
whose permanent residence is in the same
building or street?
I personally would not like it, because I think that if you
have a fixed neighbor, you know how it is, you have
confidence, etc; but being temporary, you can't treat it like
that and I think it's one of the biggest problems.
11. 9. Airbnb offers three types of rented accommodation:
a) Entire home – the whole living space to yourself.
b) Private room – a bedroom to yourself, but sharing some spaces with others.
c) Shared room – sharing your bedroom and the entire living space with another person or
persons.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Which of the three options would you
choose?
a) The advantage is that you do not have to worry if you have rented a part of the house or not, and the
disadvantage is that they are more expensive
b) The advantage is that they are cheaper, and the disadvantage is that you cannot access other spaces in
the house by yourself
c) The advantage is that it is much cheaper and the disadvantage is that you have no privacy
After these conclusions, I would choose option a, for the reasons I have indicated.
12. 10. If you were staying in an Entire home
and had the run of the place to yourself,
would you be tempted to snoop around?
Hahaha, surely because I am a very nosy person
and I would be very curious to know what there is.
