Towards Secure Multi-network Video Services - Cable Congress 2015Verimatrix
At Cable Congress 2015, President Steve Oetegenn presented a keynote address on how cable operators can establish secure multi-network video services.
Multi-screen video service is now a critical aspect of the cable value proposition, with customers demanding access to traditional linear and personalized TV content on screens throughout the home. With the reach of mobile and WiFi bandwidth, this compelling service offering can potentially be more universally available, enabling the cable brand more globally for the consumer on the devices they use devices they use most frequently.
In making content available anywhere, the necessity for harmonized, robust rights management becomes ever more crucial. In this session, Steve explored considerations related to revenue security in a multi-network world, as the common thread of security is interwoven through the assembly of video delivery system architecture and components.
Alan Breznick of Light Reading kicked-off the panel discussion on "Shaping the Future of TV: Where to place your bets" at the Multi-network Forum in the Real World at NAB 2015.
"IoT Security - Make vs Buy?" - IoT Data Analytics & Visualization Summit 2016Verimatrix
Verimatrix SVP of Marketing Steve Christian examines the security vulnerabilities that device and systems vendors become susceptible to as they aggregate and analyze sensitive customer data. His presentation underscores the importance of determining whether or not the expertise, data capture capabilities and computing infrastructures they have available in-house are agile and scalable enough to not only uncover and use detailed customer behavior, but also keep abreast of regulatory and legal data privacy regulations, which vary county-by-country.

Enhance your pay-TV business model-CABSAT 2010Verimatrix
Steve Oetegenn shares why recent trends of Internet video consumption are such that no pay-TV operator can afford to ignore. Beyond the hype of over-the-top (OTT) services, pay-TV operators are still in the power position with the majority of viewer’s attention and established operator-subscriber relationships. He presented how traditional players can extend new technologies, such as adaptive rate streaming, into the broadband delivery space.
“What Every Digital TV Executive Needs to Know About Adaptive Rate Streaming...Verimatrix
Adaptive rate streaming is being recognized as a disruptive technology for digital TV operators, and once they understand the basic principles of adaptive rate streaming, the next step is to make strategic decisions on how to best integrate the video delivery protocol with their existing network infrastructure. As a key player in the ecosystem that supports the growing momentum of the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) standard, the Verimatrix presentation will help illuminate the decision-making process, covering selection criteria and technical tradeoffs that are useful when deploying this technology. It will also cover the game-changing business issues from the perspective of different types of operators and vendors, as well as what might lie ahead for adaptive rate streaming technology.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

content to consumers
Portability: Streaming (OTT) to devices
Good Morning every one & earlier this morning we witnessed a very good discussion on “TV Everywhere in India” by the esteemed panelists & this was very enlightening, moving on with TV everywhere, I would cover on the importance of “Video Security” & Business trends in such scenarios’.
Current Market Dynamics on Video Delivery
Network Delivery Mechanisms, Cable Only, Hybrid, Satellite & Pure OTT
Multi-screen video service is now a critical aspect of the operators value proposition be it Cable ,DTH or IPTV with customers demanding access to traditional linear & personalized TV content on screens throughout the home.
With the reach of mobile & WiFi bandwidth, this makes it a compelling service offering for the operator, not only to sustain & improve ARPU’s ,but be more universally available, enabling the operator’s brand more globally for the consumer on the devices they use most frequently.
In making content available anywhere, the necessity for harmonized, robust rights management becomes ever more crucial ,as the common thread of security is interwoven through the assembly of video delivery system & its components.
Why does Verimatrix tend to speak about Revenue Security rather than Conditional Access? The key issue here is that we approach security from a business perspective rather than a focus on a single technology. The array of threats to the pay-TV business is evolving as rapidly as the devices that the customers use. So we need to take a multi-dimensional approach to address these threats and ultimately provide a future proof security strategy focused on enabling new business models and securing revenue streams.
