Rowing in Pethelino
The Nautical-Environmental Association of
Pethelino "Kerkinitis" was founded in 2007 with
the seat of the Municipal Department of
Pethelino of the Municipality of Strymonas,
Serres. The rowing department of the association
is the only one that operates not only in the
prefecture of Serres but also in the wider region
of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It operates in
Pethelino, Serres, 23 km from the city of Serres,
in the historic lake of the same name, part of the
old lake of Achinos, a unique natural rowing track
in Greece.

3. Neos Skopos Junior high school
At our school, everyone, no matter how tall or
short, thin or fat, of different race or color. United,
we try to build a strong chain that protects
mankind, love, friendship, dignity and so on.

N. Skopos High school was founded in 1977-78
with the brand name of Mixed Highschool of N.
Skopos, between a 131 other schools in our country
and 3 of its prefectures.
Its operation started the 1st
of September 1977
under the direction of P. Kuriakidi Xaralampou with
203 students, 10 sections and the first professors

The school started as an O.R.P.H.E.U.S. society
but eventually became the Highschool we all
know and love. In the school year 1982-83, the
school also supported the 10th
, 11th
and 12th
grades, making it both a Junior High and a Senior
High, but instead of having their own area,

6. Juniors and Seniors shared the same building and
area. In the school year of 1985-86, Senior High
became independent from Junior High with the
direction of P. Ioanidi Basileiou. Meanwhile, a
new building was being built and is the
Highschool of today. This improved the hygiene
and safety of all the students. Meanwhile, the
sections that weren’t used eventually became the
I.T suite and Science lab. Also, in 2001, the closed
gym was built. The last 4 to 5 years the soccer
field was also completed. It is a 5x5 square filled
with black pucks and two goals.
As we see, the Highschool started with humble
beginnings but eventually became the Highschool
of today with Seniors, a Teachers Lounge, large
classes, a library, a cafeteria that serves food and
much more.
The screening room is located on the 2nd floor of
the school. It was organized in October 2011 to
serve the teaching needs in all courses. The room is
gradually equipped with the necessary appliances,
to the extent the finances of our School allow. It
has been equipped with a 40'' TV, a portable PC, a

7. DVD player (donations from the Association of
Parents and Guardians) and a Projector.
At the same time, however, it is also used as a music
hall for the needs of this course and the school choir.
For this purpose, it is also equipped with an electric
harmonium.
In a beautiful ceremony, held on Thursday, April 11
2019, at the Municipal Theatre of Serres Asteria, the
presentation and award of the works of the students
who participated in the 5th Student Competition on
the theme, "The Battle of the Fortress".
Among the winners our student, Victoria Vultsopoulou
(awarded the second prize in the field of painting)
praise was also received by our student, Tonjos
Georgios, for his film "The Battle of the Forts of Rupel"
Warm congratulations to all students
The Region of Central Macedonia, contributed to the
upgrading of basic issues for the application and the
help of learning. They provided us with 8 personal
computers and service.

9. St. George
The church of Agios Georgios Valtotopi was
founded by the Metropolitan of Serres and Nigrita
on June 12/1999 and was inaugurated by him on
May 19/2001
The rhythm of the church is cruciform with a dome.
It is a beautiful temple lined externally with stone.
Every year on the feast on the Saint events take
place organized by the local culture Association.

10. The amazing therapephtic center of KETHIS
In the therapeutic riding school of Serres one will
find a paradise for people and animals. Children
and adults with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis,
Central Nervous Diseases Device, authentic, mental
retardation exercise in the premises thus receiving
physical and mental support. The Therapeutic
Equestrian Center of Serres (KETHIS) is an NGO. It
was founded in Serres in 2005 and has over 120
members
