Newroz is an ancient spring festival celebrated by Kurds and Persians that dates back to pre-Islamic times. Kurds link the origins of Newroz to the establishment of the Median Empire and the legend of Kawe the blacksmith who defeated the tyrant Zuhak. Persians associate Newroz with the mythology of Jamshid defeating winter. Both traditions have connections to Zoroastrianism. Newroz celebrations involve bonfires, traditional foods, dancing, and spending time with family and community, though the political and cultural significance differs for Kurds and Persians.

HALAL BI HALAL, A FESTIVAL OF IDUL FITRI AND IT’S RELATION WITH THE HISTORY O...Episteme IAIN Tulungagung

The present paper addresses the interrelation between folklore and literature in Iran and Russia in different periods of their cultural evolution, and identifies the commonalities and peculiarities of this development. The study of the interaction between Persian folklore and classical literature in the age of Persia's Islamization, has led to the hypothesis of similar processes taking place in the development of oral tradition in Russia. Using historical and typological research methods, this study refers to the Russian folklore of the 20th century and presents a contrastive-comparative analysis of small genres in the oral tradition, literature and their sources in folklore. Moreover, it calls attention to the specific features of new genres which are derived from the existing («classical») genres, and looks into the prospects for their further existence and research. Considering the experience of classical Persian literature and folklore this research identifies a number of identical features in the oral tradition of both countries, as well as common factors impacting the emergence of new genres in the so-called «post-folklore» in Russia. In this regard, it is necessary to draw attention to the specifics of West Asian culture: the common inherent features in the human worldview that clearly manifested in folklore. The knowledge of folklore and history of Iran would help the Russian citizens to bring the cultures closer together, to understand the worldviews of Iranian and Tajik people, to form new relationships with representatives of other nations in a multicultural world.

Ancient Indian history:What do we know and how?Rajesh Kochhar
When and where was the Rigveda composed?
How are the Vedic people related to the vast Harappan archaeological tradition?
These quintessential questions have no direct answers. At our current level of knowledge, archaeology and sacred texts constitute two distinct streams which do not intersect. We must therefore collate evidence from different sources and try to produce a synthesis.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Newroz from Kurdish and Persian Perspectives
Abstract:
Newroz is one of the oldest Aryan festivals and has been celebrated by different ethnic
groups and faith communities in the Middle East and some other parts of central Asia It is an
annual festival and the beginning of the new year among various national groups, mainly Kurds
and Persians. There are different perspectives about the origin of the festival, its mythology,
the way to celebrate it, and its cultural and political influence. However, both nations are still
under the influence of Zoroastrianism which is their original religion
Introduction
Kurds, as a stateless nation, believe that Newroz dates back to the emergence of the Median
Empire around 700 BC. According to the Kurdish myth, Kawe – ﮐ
ﺎ
و
ە /Kawa/ Kāveh the
Blacksmith and their ancestor killed Zuhak , the tyrant. To spread the word about his
success, he lit a bonfire on a mountain, and it was a new day for Kurds and all the other
Aryan ethnic groups. After that, Deioces –was chosen by seven Kurdish tribes to build the
Median Empire, and Deioces succeeded in building the empire.
Ferdowsi wrote his famous Shahnama in the tenth century. He has linked Nowruz
with Jamshid the legendary ruler of the ancient Iranians. According to the Persian myth,
Jamshid fought against winter, went above the earth into the heavens, and he was shining
like the sun.
3. Analyze and Discussion:
The origin of Newroz is unclear. On the one hand, the Kurds link Kawe and Zuhak mythology to
Newroz. The Persian Shahnama that was written in the tenth century by Firdawsi is the oldest
available writing that narrated the myth. In short; many years ago, there was a world ruler,
Jamshid. Zuhak marched against Jamshid, hunted Jamshid for many years, and at last killed him.
Zuhak had become the new ruler and therefore the new tyrant. He killed two young people daily
to feed the two snakes on his shoulder. Many years later, Kawe killed Zuhak and have become a
legend. Firdawsi said the Kurds had run to the mountains because of Zuhak brutality. Also, the
Kurds believe that Kawe, who killed Zuhak and then lit a large bonfire to tell the people of
Mesopotamia that they were free, is their ancestor. The Kurdish claim is understandable and
meaningful, however, Firdawsi has not mentioned Kawe’s ethnic identity. Interestingly, the word
‘kurd/ куырд’ means ‘blacksmith’ in the Ossetian ‘Alan’ language, which is one of the Iranian
languages and a sister language of Kurdish and Persian ‘Farsi’ So, their language and culture can
be helpful in the Aryan origin contexts. My understanding is that the meaning of ‘kurd/ куырд’
has been expanded from Kawe’s profession to his ethnic name and identity.
4. The Main Differences and Similarities Between Kurdish and Persian Newroz

According to Kurdish mythology, Newroz has started
since the emergence of the Median Empire and killing
Zuhak by Kawe, which leads to building the Empire.
Also, it is under Zoroastrianism influence.
According to Persian mythology,
Nowruz has started when Jamshid the
king won a fight against winter, and
blessing fire comes from
Zoroastrianism.
Currently, Kurds celebrate it freely in Kurdistan Region
– Iraq and Rojava, while there are many obstacles in front of
them in Turkey and Iran.
No obstacles in front of Nowruz, while the
Islamic rules have affected the way that
people celebrate.
Current Kurdish year is 2720 Current Persian Year is 1399
5. Conclusion and summary
Newroz/ Nowruz dates back to ancient history. Kurds link it with the advent
of the Median Empire and the rise of Kurdish legend Kawe, a blacksmith who stood
against Zuhak while Persians relate it to the mythology of Jamshid. However, they
both agree that Newroz/ Nowruz has some connections with the ancient religion of
Persians serve nuts, sweets, coffee, and tea during the holiday. Special
homemade meals are prepared for the New Year dinner. Kurds make Kurdish cuisine
like ‘Dolma’ and Persians cook ‘Sabzi polo mahi’. Food, music, and dance are the
integral elements of Newroz for Kurdish people. In Kurdistan, men and women put
on their traditional clothes and dance in a circle around the bonfire.
