New
technologies
Evaluating the range of new technologies
used to produce my Pop magazine
publication.
Blogger
 Updating
This was my first time having to maintain a constant posting itinerary
which became easier to control by using appropriate titles and
methods of uploading, for example, if it was an interactive element
such as a Prezi, I wouldn’t embed a hyperlink – this allows it to
become easier for the audience to view the work.
 Embedding URL’s
Websites that required html codes or embedding hyperlinks were done
with copying the link and attaching it by the icon on blogger than
allowed it to be viewed on a new tab.
 Adding/deleting posts
Having a continuous flow between posts was important to show each
stage of the production clearly.
Survey Monkey
 Creating a new survey with a variety of
question format options
By allowing either a text box, tick box, closed
question answers or multiple responses
gave the purpose of each survey enough
information to what was relevant. The helpful
percentage tool and tabulating the data into
charts made it easy to present the evidence
alongside text.
Slide share
 Uploading files
After creating an account, it allowed you to
upload multiple or single PowerPoint
presentations to later share with an
embedding code on Blogger.
Photography shoot
 Light studio
Professional lighting was important for taking the feature pictures
and main images for each the front cover, contents page and
article spread. It reflected the authentic tones in the skin tone
and got rid of the shadows created by ambient lighting.
 White background
This made it easier to get the stencil outline of each model later
in Photoshop.
 Auto and manual focus settings
Automatic settings on the camera allowed the focus to be
directly face on.
 DSLR and compact cameras
The difference between the DSLR cameras and compact, gave
the overall quality of the images when re-sizing them in
Photoshop later better and got rid of any pixilation.
Adobe Photoshop
 Manipulating images
Tweaking the original images whether it be
brightness/contrast or colour management, gave
the Pop magazine the subtle different between
fitting within the stereotypical ‘glow’.
 Layers
Bleeding images over the masthead and grouping
layers allowed them to stay equal and to be
scaled up/down equally.
 Re-sizing
Fit them into appropriate areas of the publication.
Adobe In Design v.2
 Independent learning through technology
and the use of the web, such as YouTube
channel tutorials
Understanding the process of working in In
Design was a format that made it easier to
place images and text within the same
document as it allowed you to create
columns and tables to use as guidelines.
Apple MAC
 Sharing photos
 Shared server for feedback between peers
Problems overcome
 Saving files in the wrong format and having
to re-design or re-save them
