4 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN AS COURSEWORK
1) Professional looking photos: within my magazine I was able to get professional photos
by using digital technology. Firstly I used a high quality professional camera which was
the Canon 550D. I got a range of different camera shots and different camera angles
which made the photos look interesting and appealing to look at. I then used the
software on the computer Photoshop which allowed me to edit the photos to have a
professional looking photos. Firstly my front cover was important to me as this is what
would make readers want to read the magazine. In addition I used a close up shot for
this image to follow the conventions of a pop music magazine. Once I had taken this
photo I edited it using Photoshop where I removed the background and edited the
model by adding eyelashes and edited the skin of the model. Secondly one of my
images within the magazine was of my model and I had cut it up into different sections.
This made the image look unique as well as making the magazine more appealing for
the target market to read.
2) I also used digital technology to make the magazine where I used Indesign and
photoshop. By using Indesign to create the magazine this meant that I was able to
learn a large range of different skills within the programme and use them to make my
magazine. This made my magazine look professional and appealing. Using Indesign
also meant that my magazine had structure to it and I could make sure that everything
was in the correct place easily. Within Indesign I was able to learn skills such as how to
layout the magazine, import images, and add different effects such as to the text. In
addition to this I also use Photoshop which is a digital software. Using this meant that I
was able to edit my images which I had taken for my magazine and make them look
even more appealing and professional. Photoshop also allowed me to edited the
colour of the image for example one of my images I made black and white. When
learning to use Photoshop I was able to widen my experience of the software, which
helped to ensure I was making a professional looking magazine.
4 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN AS COURSEWORK
3) The next thing which I believe was an important thing within my magazine was
learning about how to apply the genre of music to the magazine. As the magazine
which I made was a pop magazine I ensured that I aimed it towards teenagers. I
made it suitable to this age category through the model which I used and the
clothing which she wore. The model clearly highlighted the genre of pop
reinforced by the girly clothing and bright clothing. If I had not learnt about this I
would not know how to make the magazine suitable for the pop genre but also the
target market
4) The final thing which I think was important to learn through my coursework was
the conventions of pop magazines. When learning this it meant that when I made
my magazine it would look professional and like a typical pop magazine. For
example I made sure that on my contents page I included a large range of
images. This is because a convention of a pop magazine is to have more images
on the contents page. Furthermore learning the conventions of a pop magazine I
was able to get a better understanding of the magazine industry.
