Implementation of ICT As a Change Agent in Computing Students Result in Chukw...IJERA Editor
Manual method of sorting out for result and computing it has posed a big problem to exams unit in ChukwuemekaOdumegwuOjukwu University (COOU), In Anambra State, Nigeria. During computation of results, the exam officers collect paper results from the department and either calculate them on papers or enter them on a computer for computation. Either of them is hard work and time wasting. Hence we propose a change and retrieval agent in computing results in ChukwuemekaOdumegwuOjukwu University, Uli. Since the University already has an existing website, we require a new format for uploading results to the website using Microsoft excel witheight (8) specific columns namely: names of students, registration numbers, continuous assignment, examination score, total score, grade and remarks done by course lecturers. To compute the results of a particular student, the exam officer opens the application; enters the required detail and the application will fetch and populate the grade fields automatically from the results already uploaded on the university website by the course lecturers. The application needs internet connection in order to do this. Thereafter the results are computed by the application. The methodology used is Object Oriented Analysis and Design Methods. The application is a windows application written with Microsoft visual basic.net. The database used in saving login information and computed CGPAs is a free distributed database MySQL. The result of this researchis a functional result retrieval and computation application used only by the authorized personnel for computation of degree results.

The success or failure of students is a concern for every academic institution, college, university,
governments and students themselves. This paper presents a model to determine the propensity of a student to
succeed in the Electrical Engineering Department at Vaal University of Technology. Firstly, various machine
learning algorithms which can be used in modelling and in predicting student success or failure are discussed as
well a new algorithm called the date band algorithm. Secondly, the concept of an academic model is also
discussed. This model defines the domain and focus of data used to make preditcions. The academic model consists
of the subject, the lecturer and the sudent each of which has various attributes. One of the attributes discussed in
this paper is the popularity index which is a measure of cohesiveness of the model. The Date Band Algorithm is
presented among others in the development of the model. In this algorithm, predictions are made to optimize the
performance of academic environment, thereby impacting on the choices of funders when they support students.

Software Development Careers: Why, What, and How?Sanjay Goel
This presentation was used during the 3 hrs long session for pre-final year CSE/IT/ECE students at JIIT on 13th June 2015. It even has the slides that were skipped because of time shortage. Thanks to some of the star alumni of 1st (2005) to 5th (2009) batch graduated from JIIT for their messages that are also included in this presentation. Each of their message was read out by different students during the presentation. I hope more engineering students at JIIT and even at other institutes will find it useful for making the right choice wrt their career.
This presentation is a continuously evolving presentation and is kept updated with new insights and information.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
