Get Started: 
 
Personal Roadmap for a Social Media newbie: 
 
    •   Learn and listen first.  Lurk in SM to get a feel for things.  Start small and personal.  Get comfortable in a few top 
        level applications (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter).  Begin by connecting with your friends and colleagues. 

    •   Make sure you understand your own objectives and the time you are willing to commit.  If this is a business 
        endeavor make sure you have a strong and complete understanding of the efforts already in place and any 
        guidelines or parameters set by your company. 

    •   Integrate your SM contact points into your email signature, website, business cards and other connection points. 

    •   Pick a topic where you can offer valuable insights and start to give, give, give.  Nurture the relationships that 
        come about and don’t forget to be yourself and be transparent. 

    •   Think broadly about online – synergy is important.  Include mobile, video, out of home and other digital options 
        in your planning.
