This document discusses a study on the importance of academic skills for newly graduated teachers in Finland. The study surveyed 917 teachers who had recently graduated with a Master's degree. It examined their employment status, the main factors that contributed to their ability to find work, and minor contributing factors. The results showed that while academic skills were not a major determining factor in who was hired, having a Master's degree was still viewed as somewhat of a prerequisite for teaching positions. Occupational skills and experience were found to be much more important than research abilities when it came to recruitment.
