Core Principles, Strands, and Guiding Questions INQUIRY: How do we use the tools of inquiry within the STEM disciplines to teach and learn for understanding? IDENTITY: How do our personal identities impact our STEM teaching identities and our relationships with students, families, colleagues and communities? EQUITY How can we create STEM learning communities that nurture excellence, equity, and high expectations for all students? COLLABORATION How can our cohort build and sustain a personal and professional STEM  learning community and build strong partnerships with schools, families and communities?   REFLECTIVE PRACTICE AND PRAXIS How can we engage in critical reflection in order to continually improve our knowledge, skills, and dispositions and to empower students to be creative problem solvers and active citizens in a democracy?
Goal IV:  Continued Teacher Excellence The School of Science leads a national initiative in High School Biomedical Sciences. PLTW Biomedical Sciences:  School of Science, IUPUI – since 2006  (Jeff Watt) PLTW Engineering:  IU-Kokomo, School of Engineering & Technology  (Charlie Feldhaus) IUPUI is one of only three national teacher training sites. 250 high school teachers from 32 states have become master teachers in a four-course biomedical sciences elective track.

PLTW Biomedical Sciences: School of Science, IUPUI – since 2006 (Jeff Watt) PLTW Engineering: IU-Kokomo, School of Engineering & Technology (Charlie Feldhaus) IUPUI is one of only three national teacher training sites. 250 high school teachers from 32 states have become master teachers in a four-course biomedical sciences elective track.
