This document discusses several theories of employee motivation:
- Maslow's hierarchy of needs which identifies physical, safety, belonging, esteem, and self-actualization needs.
- ERG theory which condensed Maslow's hierarchy into existence, relatedness, and growth needs.
- McClelland's theory which identifies achievement, power, and affiliation as three motivational needs.
It also discusses applying Herzberg's two-factor theory to motivate employees by addressing dissatisfiers like pay and working conditions, and satisfiers like growth opportunities, recognition, and responsibility. Finally, it provides examples of how Google motivates employees through perks, transparency, flexibility, fun culture, and unconventional workspaces.
