 Retroviruses transcribe RNA to DNA.
•Two viral strands of RNA
found in core surrounded

use;
b) Needle stick injury;
c) Transfusion of contaminated blood ... or
blood product;
d) Medical injection with unsterilised ...
equipment.
HIV Testing
It is done using;
1) PCR – Polymerase Chain Reaction
2) ELISA- Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant
Assay
Prevention
1) Use of condoms, or any other
barrier during sexual contact.
2) Administration of anti-retroviral
drugs to mother
during pregnancy or delivery.
Management
There is no cure for Aids.
Treatment consists of high
active anti-retroviral therapy
(HAART) which slows
progression of the diseases.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
 Wear the red ribbon to show support for those living
with HIV/AIDS
 Be aware and educated about HIV/AIDS
 Find out what’s going on and get involved
