CHAPTER I
1.1. Background
AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a syndrome / collection of symptoms
caused by the retrovirus that attacks the body's immune system or defense. With the destruction
of the immune system, then the infected person vulnerable to other diseases are fatal, are known
as opportunistic infections. AIDS cases were first discovered by Gottlieb in the United States in
1981 and the virus was discovered by Luc Montagnier in 1983.
Today AIDS has infected almost every country in the world (pandemic), including
Indonesia. As of November 1996 is estimated to have contained as many as 8.4 million cases in
the world that consists of 6.7 million adults and 1.7 million children. In Indonesia based on data
sourced from the Directorate General of P2M and PLP Department of Health until May 1, 1998
the number of people living with HIV / AIDS as many as 685 people were reported by 23
provinces in Indonesia. Data on the number of people with HIV / AIDS in Indonesia is
essentially not a picture of the actual number of patients. In the prevailing theory of disease
"Iceberg" where patients are seen only a small part of it should be. For the WHO estimates that
behind 1-infected patients have been there are approximately 100-200 people with HIV are not
known.
To date drugs and vaccines that are expected to help solve the problem of HIV / AIDS
has not been found. One of the alternatives in an effort to overcome the problematic number of
sufferers is increasing prevention efforts are all those parties which require us to not engage in an
environment that enables the transmission of HIV can be infected
5
1.2. Problem Statement
As for the formulation of the problem in the manufacture of this paper are:
1. What is the HIV-AIDS?
2. What are the causes of HIV AIDS?
3. How the pathophysiology of HIV AIDS?
4. How do the symptoms of HIV AIDS?
5. How the methods / techniques of transmission HIV AIDS virus?
6. How does HIV AIDS prevention?

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
2.1. Understanding HIV AIDS
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus which can cause AIDS.
AIDS stands for Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome which is the impact / effect of the
proliferation of HIV virus in a living body.
2.2. Etiology
The cause of AIDS is a retrovirus belonging to a type of RNA virus called HIV that
attacks white blood cells called CD4 cells that can damage the human immune system that
ultimately could not survive the disruption despite a very mild disease though.
2.3.Pathophysiology
In early infection, HIV does not cause immediate death of cells in the infection but prior
experience of replication (duplication), to allow time to develop in the patient's body, which will
eventually spend or damage up to a certain number of T4 cells lymfosit. after a few months to
several years later, then the patient will be seen as a result of clinical symptoms of HIV infection
is. The period between HIV infected with the onset of symptoms of disease (incubation period) is
6 months to more than 10 years, an average of 21 months in children and 60 months in adults.
Infection by the HIV virus causes impaired immune function resulting in reduced endurance or
lost, consequently susceptible to other diseases such as infectious diseases caused by bacteria and
fungi.
7
2.4. Clinical
 Fatigue and lethargy
 Weight loss decreases dramatically
 Fever and sweating are often at a time when the night
 Diarrhoea and lack of appetite
 White patches on the tongue and in the mouth
 Swelling of the neck and groin
 Pneumonia
 Skin cancer
2.5. Transmission
1. Through the Sexual
HIV can be spread through sexual intercourse (heterosexual or homosexual). HIV found in
all body fluids, but that proved instrumental in the spread of AIDS is semen, vaginal fluids,
and blood.
2. Throughthe Blood
Transmission of AIDS through blood occurs with:
- Blood transfusions containing HIV.
- Syringes / tools other puncture (acupuncture, tattooing, piercing) used people with HIV
without properly sterilized.
- Razors, nail clippers, or toothbrushes used people with the HIV virus.
3. Infected with HIV Through Mother to Baby
Pregnant women with HIV can transfer virus to her fetus. Transmission can occur when a
baby in the womb, during childbirth, and after the baby is born.
8
2.6. Prevention
1. Prevention of HIV Infection Through Sexual Relations
- You stay away from sex
- Be faithful to each other with a partner
- Prevented by condoms
2.Prevention of HIV Infection Through blood
- Call for a high risk group for contracting AIDS is not a blood donod
- Syringes and equipment contaminated with body fluids must be sterilized by default
every time consumables
3. Prevention of HIV Infection Through Mother
Efforts to prevent transmission occurs only with the appeal that HIV-infected mothers
who are not pregnant.

BAB III
CLOSING
3.2. Conclution

Transmission virus HIV AIDS:
1. Through the Sexual
2. Through the Blood
3. Infected with HIV through mother to baby
3.2. Sugesstion
In writing this askep still less than perfect because of the lack of reference that we get.
So, criticism and suggestions that are built specifically from the supervisor as well as from
fellow readers so we expect this to perfection askep future.

  • 4. 4 BAB I CHAPTER I 1.1. Background AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a syndrome / collection of symptoms caused by the retrovirus that attacks the body's immune system or defense. With the destruction of the immune system, then the infected person vulnerable to other diseases are fatal, are known as opportunistic infections. AIDS cases were first discovered by Gottlieb in the United States in 1981 and the virus was discovered by Luc Montagnier in 1983. Today AIDS has infected almost every country in the world (pandemic), including Indonesia. As of November 1996 is estimated to have contained as many as 8.4 million cases in the world that consists of 6.7 million adults and 1.7 million children. In Indonesia based on data sourced from the Directorate General of P2M and PLP Department of Health until May 1, 1998 the number of people living with HIV / AIDS as many as 685 people were reported by 23 provinces in Indonesia. Data on the number of people with HIV / AIDS in Indonesia is essentially not a picture of the actual number of patients. In the prevailing theory of disease "Iceberg" where patients are seen only a small part of it should be. For the WHO estimates that behind 1-infected patients have been there are approximately 100-200 people with HIV are not known. To date drugs and vaccines that are expected to help solve the problem of HIV / AIDS has not been found. One of the alternatives in an effort to overcome the problematic number of sufferers is increasing prevention efforts are all those parties which require us to not engage in an environment that enables the transmission of HIV can be infected

  • 6. 6 CHAPTER II DISCUSSION 2.1. Understanding HIV AIDS HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus which can cause AIDS. AIDS stands for Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome which is the impact / effect of the proliferation of HIV virus in a living body. 2.2. Etiology The cause of AIDS is a retrovirus belonging to a type of RNA virus called HIV that attacks white blood cells called CD4 cells that can damage the human immune system that ultimately could not survive the disruption despite a very mild disease though. 2.3.Pathophysiology In early infection, HIV does not cause immediate death of cells in the infection but prior experience of replication (duplication), to allow time to develop in the patient's body, which will eventually spend or damage up to a certain number of T4 cells lymfosit. after a few months to several years later, then the patient will be seen as a result of clinical symptoms of HIV infection is. The period between HIV infected with the onset of symptoms of disease (incubation period) is 6 months to more than 10 years, an average of 21 months in children and 60 months in adults. Infection by the HIV virus causes impaired immune function resulting in reduced endurance or lost, consequently susceptible to other diseases such as infectious diseases caused by bacteria and fungi.
