This is a presentation we did in Shoreditch house on 5th November based around Creative Social's new book: Hacker, Maker, Teacher, Thief: Advertising's Next Generation, now available on Amazon
Naval Ravikant's famous "How to get rich (without getting lucky)" tweetstorm. We have recycled this as the Mentorpass manifesto. It is core to the teaching that we provide to our community of entrepreneurs.
From Legal Rights and Copyleft for Business Acumen lecture for Artists at UCT Graduate School of Business.
A primer to help artists get a sense of how to protect and promote their own creative works within the vibrant and rapidly evolving connection-economy.
There is increased fear of copying, and stealing of intellectual property. Creative entrepreneurs have astonishing market advantage however, thanks to the dizzying scope of the internet: to get into direct contact with their fans; sell & pre-sell; draw on the pool of open-licensed culture and tools; develop and test new business models in more fluid IP environments.
This is how we learn to make amazing things, with rules. And exercise our rights to expand what edifies our humanity.
A presentation about ways of working more creatively with consumers in co-creation work.
Given at the world Mass-Customisation, Personalisation and Co-Creation conference (MCPC 2011) in San Francisco.
I am interested in developing executive training or professional development workshops that function as 'surprise' and 'mystery' tours and collective performance art.
I have brought a squash to the class last Friday (as a form of improvisation and surprise).
In particular, students like puzzles (the student who gets the answer first gets a dark chocolate).
If you view it as a slideshow and try to guess the answers to the puzzles, then the experience might be quite fun:)
You can find the description of this class below.
In this class that is designed as a collective performance art, we review some of the biggest names in the landscape of entertainment, creativity, and business. From space to magic, from basketball to fashion, from animation to computer games, from film music to architecture we have a trans-disciplinary tour of storytelling and creative careers. We have a series of exercises in asset creation and imagination. We have a lot of puzzles. We dream about the university of the future. However, the main actor in all of this experience (the connecting thread/anchor) is a squash.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
