INDIVIDUAL, SPECIES AND AREA
PROTECTION
Individual protection
Jest to najstarsza forma ochrony
przyrody na świecie. Ochroną
indywidualną obejmuje się
pojedyncze osobniki danego gatunku
(np. drzewa), obiekty przyrody
nieożywionej i małe fragmenty
ekosystemów szczególnie cenne dla
zachowania różnorodności
biologicznej (wydmy).
Species protection
Its purpose is to ensure the survival and
proper conservation status of wild plants, fungi
and animals and their habitats, as well as the
preservation of species and genetic diversity.
This protection applies to rare species,
susceptible to threats and endangered with
extinction, and protected on the basis of
international agreements. In Poland, there are
about 400 species of animals, 213 species of
plants and 265 species of fungi and lichens
under protection.
Area protection -
Protected area
a geographically separated area that is under
protection or special management for the
purpose of its protection. It is created in an
area with an interesting landscape or high
natural values and is subject to legal
protection. It includes the area with all
organisms and elements of inanimate nature.
According to the Act of April 16, 2004 on
nature protection, the forms of nature
protection in Poland are: national parks, nature
reserves, landscape parks, etc.
