This document summarizes the work of developing a Data Discovery Index prototype that helps users find and access shared biomedical data from various repositories. Increased access to the data generated is fuelling increased consumption and accelerating the cycle of discovery. But the successful integration and re-use of heterogeneous data from multiple providers and scientific domains is a major challenge within academia and industry, often due to incomplete description of the study details or metadata about the study. Using the BioSharing, ISA Commons and the STATistics Ontology (STATO) projects as exemplar community efforts, in this breakout session we will discuss the evolving portfolio of community-based standards and methods for structuring and curating datasets, from experimental descriptions to the results of analysis.

Workshop overview:
This workshop will build upon the work planned by the EOSCpilot data interoperability task and the BlueBridge workshop held on April 3 at the RDA meeting. We will investigate common mechanisms for interoperation of data catalogues that preserve established community standards, norms and resources, while simplifying the process of being/becoming FAIR. Can we have a simple interoperability architecture based on a common set of metadata types? What are the minimum metadata requirements to expose FAIR data to EOSC services and EOSC users?
DAY 3 - PARALLEL SESSION 6 & 7
Open Data for Research
Open data refers to data that is freely available for anyone to access, use and share, with some restrictions like requiring attribution. Sharing open data in research provides benefits like enabling other researchers to verify findings through replication, increasing the visibility and impact of the research, and avoiding duplicate costs and efforts. Incentives are needed to encourage researchers to share open data, such as award structures that recognize data sharing and metrics for measuring its impact.
FAIR Data Knowledge Graphs–from Theory to Practice
This document discusses building FAIR data knowledge graphs from theory to practice. It begins by outlining what R&D researchers want to do with data, such as understanding disease mechanisms and using patient data, but that currently data is fragmented across systems. It then introduces the FAIR data principles and describes building a knowledge graph that incorporates data from multiple sources using standards like the Data Catalog vocabulary. The key challenges discussed are determining canonical representations for entities and linking data to public vocabularies through an enrichment process.
DataCite and its Members: Connecting Research and Identifying Knowledge
PIDs and their metadata support scholarly research and its increasing amounts and
variety of scholarly output. DataCite provides services which enable the research community to identify, connect, cite and track these outputs, making content FAIR. New
services include data level metrics and the use of identifiers for organizations and new
types of content, e.g. software, repositories and instruments. As an open, collaborative
and community driven membership organization we rely on our members for their
input and experience to build services that are beneficial for the research community
as a whole. DataCite services as well as current and future initiatives will be described
and it will be shown how members can contribute and benefit. Over the course of the
years, our membership has grown and diversified and we are therefore refreshing and
clarifying our member model. The new member model will be presented and described.

Many countries around the world are starting to organise national health data research networks, investing hundreds of millions of dollars, euros, yuan, pounds, etc. in such initiatives. Some of these are organized by the government, such as the NIH All of Us Program in the U.S. and Genomics England, others are started by businesses such as PatientsLikeMe or by patient organizations such as DuchenneConnect. And then there are research-driven infrastructures such as ELIXIR and BBMRI and multi-stakeholder initiatives such as PCORI and HealthRI.
During this webinar, we are going to discuss the current technical practice of establishing health data research infrastructures, our experience in building them or advising on that, and the key elements of success that one should not overlook in order to build a healthy, long-lasting health data research network.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

- 1. NADA 3.0 An open source microdata cataloguing application provided by the World Bank, Development data Group and the International Household Survey Network www.ihsn.org/nada

- 4. Increases the quality and credibility of data and research work by allowing independent parties to replicate and/or challenge results, and to provide feedback to data producers
- 6. Provides access to all related resources: questionnaires, manuals, reports, analytical outputs.
- 7. Rich metadata (based on DDI/Dublin Core metadata standards) describe the survey, its data files, and variables in detail
- 8. A powerful data discovery tool: metadata are fully searchable, down to the variable level. Tools are provided to visualize metadata, e.g. to compare variables across surveys.
- 9. A bibliography of data-related research output is also provided. Some datasets have generated hundreds of papers.
- 10. The collection of citations is also fully searchable (by author, country, survey, date, title).
- 11. User-friendly administrator tools allow monitoring of uses/users and management of requests for data.
