The National Climate Fund (NCF) is established by countries to efficiently direct financing towards climate initiatives and can be managed by either the government or an international trustee. NCFs enable the mobilization of funds from diverse sources while offering advantages like bypassing annual budget rules and enhanced fund tracking. However, they face challenges such as the need for advanced management capabilities, reliance on donor commitments, and bureaucratic hurdles in project proposal development.
