This study synthesized and characterized Schiff base transition metal complexes of cobalt(II) and copper(II) acetylacetonate (acac) ligands. The cobalt(II) and copper(II) acac complexes were tested for their antimicrobial properties against bacteria and fungi. Both complexes showed little to no inhibitory effects on the microbes tested. Their structures were characterized through UV-Vis spectroscopy, which identified maximum absorbances of 491 nm for cobalt(II) acac and 632 nm for copper(II) acac.
