A narrative is used to entertain readers with a story and to teach or inform through a writer's reflections on experiences. It can be based on imaginary or factual events like fairy tales, mysteries, or real complicated events with a crisis and resolution. A narrative typically has an orientation to introduce characters and set the scene, followed by a complication in the form of a crisis or unexpected event. It then reaches a resolution where the crisis is solved for better or worse. Language features include use of pronouns, adjectives, time connectives, adverbs of place, past tense verbs, dialogue, and saying/thinking verbs to describe characters. An example narrative structure is provided about Snow White running away from her uncle and aunt's home
