The helpless anger felt by most caring people at the manner wherein the elderly have been forgotten, questions the very existence of human relations as well as the norms prevailing towards the elders in our society.
This document discusses the future of farming in Laos and the aspirations of rural youth. It notes that 60% of the population is under 25 and many rural youth do not want to continue farming. Parents see farming as difficult work with low social status and want their children to have other jobs or education. Studies show most rural youth want non-farming government jobs or paid work rather than returning to family farms. The document considers scenarios where rural villages have aging populations or youth leave for cities, versus opportunities to encourage youth to stay through new rural livelihoods. It advocates for expanding youth options and supporting those who stay or leave through skills training, microenterprises, and initiatives led by rural youth themselves.
Enhance Worldwide works every day to make education a reality for over 150 girls and young women in Addis Ababa. Our Kinship Care and Rising Autonomy programs ensure that girls and young women living in poverty can attend school and have the resources and skills they need to succeed.
Children from single-parent families or those with incarcerated family members are much more likely to end up in jail without positive intervention programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters. The program matches at-risk youth with mentors who spend just one hour per week with them, and this reduces the chances of criminal behavior, drug use, alcohol use, and school absenteeism. Churches are encouraged to help their communities by committing to match ten children each with mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The document discusses the importance of elders in society and families, and factors that contribute to elder abuse and neglect. It notes that elders play important roles in preserving culture and traditions through storytelling and advising younger generations. However, modern factors like growing materialism, lack of space, and breaking of joint family systems have contributed to increased reports of elder abuse in India. The document concludes by outlining steps the Indian government is taking to promote family values and encourage multi-generational living to better support elders.

This document outlines the Nanhi Kali project run by Ayurjeevanam Sewa Samiti Trust in India. The project aims to sponsor education for underprivileged girls to help address issues like female illiteracy, low rates of girls completing secondary school, and declining child sex ratios in India. The project provides annual sponsorship of Rs. 1,800-2,500 per girl for uniforms, books and school supplies. Sponsors receive updates on girls' progress and can volunteer time for activities like tutoring or community engagement. The selected girls come from low-income families in Uttar Pradesh and sponsorship ensures they can complete class 10 regardless of their families' circumstances.

This document summarizes poverty statistics in Canada. It finds that many groups, including children, single mothers, immigrants and the disabled struggle with poverty. Over 800,000 Canadians used food banks in 2005, with 41% being children. Poverty disproportionately impacts women, indigenous peoples, young adults and children. Factors contributing to poverty include unemployment, underemployment, inadequate wages and reduced social support. The rate of poverty fluctuates with the health of the economy, with wealthier families seeing greater income growth than poorer families in recent decades. Poverty takes a personal toll through its impacts on people's lives, relationships and sense of self.
This document discusses opportunities and challenges for rural youth in Laos. It describes the AGREE program, which supports young agripreneurs through business planning workshops and competitions. The first competition through AGREE saw 12 teams present business ideas, with the winning team proposing an herbal tea business. Moving forward, the program aims to provide grants, training, and mentoring to help young agripreneurs launch rural enterprises after graduation. AGREE seeks to improve rural livelihoods and determine whether the "green village" scenario can provide attractive opportunities that keep youth engaged in the agriculture sector.

SAHAYA is an organization that aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children in India so that they can stand on their own feet. It currently has 70 volunteers working with children in 7 schools, conducting 2 hour classes weekly to improve their English, computer, life, and social skills. The organization aims to address the stark realities that many children in government schools face, such as dropping out by 10th standard and lacking support and resources to pursue further education and opportunities.
For children in rural India who are growing up in difficult circumstances, a school is more than a place of academic instruction. It is a sanctuary where they can be children again
The document discusses the problems with the current Philippine education system and proposes an alternative model called the Life Learning System. The main issues with the current system are that it widens gaps in society, skews access to quality education, and is biased towards certain types of intelligence. The Life Learning System aims to develop all types of abilities, teach entrepreneurship skills, focus on wisdom over just knowledge, and engage students in their learning community. It promotes socially responsible entrepreneurship through experiential learning and preparing students to solve real-world problems in their families and communities.
Education is key to reducing poverty and influencing economic growth in developing countries. When girls receive an education, their income can increase by 20% as adults, and a nation's economic growth can increase by 3.7% for every year the average level of schooling rises. However, 65 million girls worldwide are out of school due to factors such as child marriage, gender bias that favors educating boys, and schooling costs. Ensuring access to quality education for girls has widespread social and economic benefits.
Rural women face many challenges to obtaining an education including poverty, lack of infrastructure like schools and hospitals, household responsibilities from a young age, and early marriage. Girls have little time for study due to tasks like herding animals, farming, collecting firewood and water, and housework. Families prioritize educating boys due to social norms and see girls as an economic resource. The government needs to build more schools close to homes, provide scholarships, and educate communities on the importance of girls' education to address the problems rural women face.
This document discusses adopting orphans in India. It notes that while there are about 12 million orphans in India, only around 2,500 are legally adopted each year. Adopting children can help them get an education and support system so they can contribute positively to society. The document proposes a campaign to promote adoption through various media like TV, newspapers, and social media. It aims to target childless couples, widows/widowers, the elderly, and unmarried people to encourage more adoptions. Celebrities and corporations could help endorse and support the campaign financially.

This document provides a summary of a social immersion project report on girl child education in rural areas. It was conducted by 7 MBA students from Kumaraguru College of Technology under the guidance of Dr. D. Susana. The project involved desk research to understand existing issues with girl education in rural areas based on literature. It also included primary research through village visits to understand challenges first hand from parents and children. Key findings included lack of awareness among parents of benefits, and dropout rates being high due to various reasons like lack of infrastructure and facilities. The report provides recommendations to enhance support for girl education such as training programs, awareness creation, developing schools and infrastructure.
Inequality education is about the “disparity of access to educational resources between different social groups”. Some examples of these resources of Educational Inequality in Rural and Urban Pakistanis include school funding, experienced and qualified educators, books, technologies, and school facilities such as sports and recreation.
A girl is like a flower to be nurtured. She is a goddess to be revered. She is mother earth that sustains the very breath of humanity. How can man even think of killing her in the womb? It is said in the Bhagwat Gita that the karma of the past catches up. For those who have killed their daughters mercilessly they will go through the same fate. But the woman whose tender heart continues to nurture will still give a chance to evil to redeem. Unless India gives women a chance to survive, it would fail as the world’s largest democracy.
- Rural education in India faces many challenges including poor infrastructure, lack of access, financial support and qualified teachers. While enrollment has increased, education quality and attendance rates remain low.
- Issues include not enough schools, girls lacking access, families needing children to work, and higher dropout rates at secondary levels. Urban schools have better resources and advancement than rural schools.
- Recent data shows rural enrollment is high but attendance remains around 73%. While private school attendance is rising, government schools still educate most rural children. Overall, solving India's rural education challenges requires a holistic approach.
Literacy rates in rural India are significantly lower than in urban areas due to lack of educational infrastructure and resources. Only 61% of Indians are literate, with large disparities between states, genders, and rural/urban populations. Several government schemes aim to improve literacy, but progress remains slow. NGOs are also working to boost education access for underprivileged groups. To fully develop, India must prioritize achieving universal literacy through improved implementation and funding of literacy programs.
Achieving gender equality in india summaryadinochina
The document discusses gender equality in India and steps that can be taken to promote it. It notes that while natural predictions may suggest equality has been achieved, statistics disprove this, showing ongoing issues like declines in female labor participation. Reasons for preferences of male children over female in Indian society include patriarchal attitudes, dowry system, and beliefs that sons will care for parents. Affirmative action policies like reserving political positions for women and establishing equal land inheritance can empower women economically and socially. Education is also key, as seen in a new Telangana textbook that avoids gender stereotypes. Overall attitudinal changes are still needed as hindrances like treating female children as losses persist. Equality is necessary for comprehensive development

All children have the fundamental right to education, but millions of them are never enrolled in a school or are dropped out for varied reasons, especially in families where the parents are illiterate themselves, and are facing an acute shortage of resources daily. The probability of those children working at reputable organizations and pursuing their dreams is minimal, and they often never get a chance to grow and prosper.
This document summarizes a survey conducted on the education and health of women in the Jari-Mari slum area of Kurla, Mumbai. The survey aimed to study women's quality of life, literacy levels, health and employment status. It also examined services from municipal schools and hospitals as well as work done by NGOs like Jagruti Kendra Mahila Mandal and Sahyog to empower women. Primary data was collected through questionnaires with 100 women over age 21 across the slum. The survey found literacy to be low among women with many illiterate or unaware of local resources due to migration. Health of women was found to be affected by social conditions like poverty and family responsibilities.

Nagrikfoundation - The Gender-Biased Education System in India
1.
2. Have you ever wondered what’s
the real reason behind the
persistent “developing” state of
India?
3. It’s the disgraceful situation of gender inequality in the
education system of our country. Continuous neglect, social
norms, low economic situation are some of the reasons that
lakhs of girls from rural and semi-urban areas are dropped out
of their schools before the completion of their basic
education. Moreover, 32% of girls don’t even get enrolled in
schools. Though major NGO in Delhi and other cities are trying
their best to amend the situation, the local community with
their conservative outlook and narrow thinking are creating
hindrance in the education of their girls.
4. For most of the families, investing in a
girl’s education is a waste of money
instead they concentrate more on
their marriage. The reason being a
heavy dowry demanded at the time
of marriage.
5. Though there are many villages
